Monday, April 19, 2010. I've missed you - take me back? As a token of my longing, please accept this picture of Jimmy McNulty. What a hunk hey. Right, I hope this means we're back on now. party with magda: July 2009
http://pasticheparty.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 15, 2009. Ode to laundromat (dot com). My highlight was offering "sage" advice to another newcomer. My lowlight was a visit to the much more expensive, slightly stinky and much less innovatively named "Laundromat" of South Perth; an incident which only increased my appreciation of my "local" laundrette (and I guess also of Tom, who stayed by me throughout the horrible ordeal). Perhaps when I move out, I just won't buy a washing machine. "A good decision"? Thursday, July 2, 2009. Who hasn'...

A what? A 'new post'? What? - Boxer is an earnest fake ghost
http://boxer-the-horse.livejournal.com/37040.html
Boxer is an earnest fake ghost. Nov 17th, 2009 01:34 pm. I randomly wrote a thing for a 100-word fiction competition on bOING bOING. The theme was 'Found in Space. I chose literal over clever. The Captain lay sprawled next to a blackened metal door wheezing and quietly bleeding to death. His right arm lay wedged between the wounded door and the bulkhead. An impressionist’s bright red bush stroke trailed from the captain's stomach down a polished ceramic hallway. 2009-11-17 07:35 am (UTC). 2009-11-19 01:2...

party with magda: pleasantly surprised
http://pasticheparty.blogspot.com/2010/05/pleasantly-surprised.html
Sunday, May 23, 2010. Gosh I love it when commercial TV does OK. This time, I'm delighted to announce that the pilot of Modern Families. Narrowly avoided the offensiveness hinted at in its trailers (thanks Channel 10, your inability to pick appropriate highlights astounds me yet again). The first episode was exactly how I like my TV: wacky but tight (incidentally, this is also how I like men, RAWR). It spanned the whole gamut of lolz, from the most outrageously amusing (The Lion King. May 23, 2010 at 8:0...

party with magda: May 2010
http://pasticheparty.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 31, 2010. HIGHLIGHT #3. Push Bike other short films. I watched a buttload of short films over the course of this weekend. Some where hilarious, others humbling, some pretty shit (film festival choices so often baffle me! And a few I will struggle to forget. The story of an African family struggling to fit into Australia. Very little dialogue, no simple charectisation, no flashbacks, no need to explain everything about their tortured background. A story told through images. Filmmaking is endle...

party with magda: April 2009
http://pasticheparty.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 22, 2009. My long-time bff Tom "T-Bone" ReyRey recently became one of my work colleugues. Apart from the good corridor times we have shared since his contract began, we have also been spending a lot of time laughing at spam emails. For some reason, the UWA Student Guild (where we both work) is some sort of crazy spam epicentre, with every account receiving on average 50 spam items per day. 1 "your male friend will grow like on yeasts". 4 "give her SHOCK by your manhood - surprise! This a...

party with magda: June 2010
http://pasticheparty.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 22, 2010. Since I last blogged, after Dungog, I've been wandering up and down the eastern seaboard, seeking adventure, clarity and creative inspiration. There's plenty to be written about the first two aims, but right now I'm just going to write about the third, and a beautiful exhibit that I saw yesterday in Melbourne, at the NGV Australia. He's evidently obsessed with women and femininity - and while there are all sorts of arguments you could make about exotisising the other I prefer to t...

Friday, February 27, 2009. I haven't posted in a while, and that this is not for lack of inspiration so much as the exact opposite - too much inspiration, too much happening, argh argh argh! party with magda: dungog highlight #1
http://pasticheparty.blogspot.com/2010/05/dungog-highlight-1.html
Monday, May 31, 2010. Last week I flew all across Australia with four other lovely ladies from the WA Screen Academy to attend the DUNGOG FILM FESTIVAL - a weekend of screenings and parties in a tiny rural NSW town of 3000 people and a lot more cattle. One of my short films was selected for the Sunday "whimsical" screening session (what makes a film whimsical? How do you measure levels of whimsy? DUNGOG HIGHLIGHT #1: Lou.
