Before we left for Munich from Prague we made sure we were getting on a train with no air conditioning, a track that was under construction so that we would have to switch to a bus for one leg of the trip, and connections that made us use three hot trains total in addition to the bus. Friday, June 27, 2008. After that we went to Dachau, home of the only concentration camp open all twelve years of the Nazi reign (1933-45). The original buildings were gone, but a few were reconstructed and the foundations were all there. It was a massive camp, and it is now home to several memorials. Very humbling.
