Where’s my book? – Part 2 – Isobel Blackthorn
https://isobelblackthorn.com/2015/08/02/wheres-my-book-part-2
My novels and short stories. Where’s my book? 8211; Part 2. August 2, 2015. August 2, 2015. I’m adding an addendum to yesterday’s blog post. As I’ve become a little strident about the difficulties facing small presses. If ever there was a model of how the corporate world has an industry stitched up, book publishing is it. Let’s not be naive about this. That’s a lot of $ outlay, working on long lead times. The world’s major publishing houses are oligarchs. They are in the business of swallowing ...The lar...

My novels and short stories. Don’t stop the boats, stop the injustice. July 29, 2015. July 29, 2015. I tried to watch Go Back to Where You Came From. On SBS last night, but when they got to the border camp in Jordan, where 200 of the 4 million-and-rising refugees fleeing Syria arrive by the day, I welled up. Every time I picture the camps I cry. Posing a threat to our pharmaceutical benefits scheme (PBS). What have refugees got to do with the PBS and the free trade agreements (TPPs)? Another campaign des...

My novels and short stories. June 25, 2015. June 26, 2015. I’m sharing a poem I first came across in the 80s when I was studying a course with the Open University, UK, called, ‘Third World Studies.’ It was a brilliant multidisciplinary introduction to the North South divide. Hats off to the OU for that seminal moment in my life. Http:/ www.MintPressNews.com. I’ve reposted the poem from where it appeared in New Black Magazine, May 6, 2007. Https:/ www.youtube.com/watch? Wat a joyful news, Miss Mattie,.

Getting to the end. Sometimes writer, sometimes reader, always a dreamer. NaNoWriMo Week 1 – The magic of write-ins. November 5, 2016. The first week of NaNoWriMo is always relatively easy. Your idea is fresh and exciting. Most of the time the writing flows. My story is going amazing, I have worked on the idea for almost a year. I’m normally a planner, … Continue reading →. Getting to the end. Sometimes writer, sometimes reader, always a dreamer. Child 44 – Great Movie. Absence makes the heart grow fonder… →. May 28, 2015. I am packing up again. All my books. I do not look forward to it. Last time I had about three weeks to do it. This time I have a weekend. An opportunity to move out of my current, quite awkward arrangement came up and I couldn’t refuse, so I am back on the road again. One day I will live in one place and never have to pack my books again. Getting back on ...

Getting to the end. Sometimes writer, sometimes reader, always a dreamer. Moving Books →. Child 44 – Great Movie. May 7, 2015. As many writers do, I read a lot, and when I hear that a book I enjoyed is opted for a movie, I get excited. Not only is this a great opportunity for the author to find a whole new set of readers, there is also the great opportunity for me to find a new film I love. This entry was posted in inspiration. Getting to the end. Sometimes writer, sometimes reader, always a dreamer. Mockingbird revisited →. July 31, 2015. I finally set my pride to the side to tackle the adjudication. Email that I have been avoiding way too long. Preparing myself I set up a plan. 1) Read the notes at the library, giving me no chance for loud emotional outbreaks. 2) Read through the whole bit at once, not finding just the negative bits to dwell over. 3) Write down notes as I read to further dissect the comments. Bad thing, they ...

Getting to the end. Sometimes writer, sometimes reader, always a dreamer. Facing your fears →. Absence makes the heart grow fonder…. June 27, 2015. 8230;or something like that. I have been absent again for awhile, mostly because of my day job. It has been a busy school term that is coming to an end in a couple of weeks. Pret napkins have many uses. By the way, #Happyhandstandday! It’s good for creativity, I find, to go upside down every now and then. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. I’m on F...

Heatwave | Getting to the end
https://gettingtotheend.wordpress.com/2015/04/09/heatwave
Getting to the end. Sometimes writer, sometimes reader, always a dreamer. Child 44 – Great Movie →. April 9, 2015. We have had a mini heatwave here in London the last couple of days. The sun has been out in full force and it is lovely to see people out an about, not hurrying from one warm place inside to the next. It has been perfect as well for the Easter holidays with all the kids off school, being able to play outside for once. Then my sister sends me a picture of her garden. Snow! And we’re off.
