Yogh and Ash and Thorn. Devonian Corals →. Things My Father Taught Me. June 15, 2015. Earlier today, the pastor of my parents’ church asked Facebook, “What’s the best thing your father taught you? I found that I was hard-pressed to give one solitary item, since my dad has taught me so much: in words, by his example, and by virtue of what he emphasized in day-to-day life. He catechized me well, taught me the principles of being a good student, and gave lots of other pieces of practical advice. Is there a ...

Big Hero 6: Why Do You Make Me So Happy? | Like Something More Than Mortal

Like Something More Than Mortal. Philosophy indebted to tales of heroes. November 8, 2014. Big Hero 6: Why Do You Make Me So Happy? Is a real treat for those who like to go out to an animated movie. The environments are lush, the designs are vivid, the animation is stunning, the characters are well-defined, the plot has pathos, there are laughs, there are cries, there are thrills aplenty, high-concept throw-aways, “aw, cute” moments…. No one on Earth can be unhappy with this movie. And neither am I.

Mr. Peabody and Sherman: “My Deep Regard” | Like Something More Than Mortal

Like Something More Than Mortal. Philosophy indebted to tales of heroes. March 15, 2014. I recommend Rob Minkoff’s Mr. Peabody and Sherman with a broad smile. The story was character-based, the plot moved a nice trot, the animation was beautiful, and the voice acting was first-rate. High marks, all around. I found some of the plot devices even. They disclosed to me, by their very superfluity, the love of the writers for. Mr Peabody and Sherman: “My Deep Regard”. This entry was posted in Review. Fill in y...

Things My Father Taught Me →. Yogh and Ash and Thorn. June 10, 2015. Back in May, I shared Peter Bellamy’s setting of Rudyard Kipling, noting that I’d stumbled over it thanks to the glory and munificence of the internet. More specifically, I was contemplating Anglo-Saxon words that start with an ash or a thorn, and came across this parody by Catherine Faber. Yogh and Ash and Thorn. Some time between the year fourteen-ought-five and -fifty-one. There was a strange and radical change in spoken English done.
