She tolerated the chemo okay on the day of, felt a little queasy on the ride home, and woke up Wednesday morning in really bad shape. Unfortunately she didn’t realize exactly how bad she felt until she was in a vicious cycle. We called the Dr Wed afternoon and they said to have her in the clinic early to get fluids before her RAtx. So we’re at a new fork in the road and have a consultation appointment Friday to speak with Dr. Hassan about alternatives for the existing chemo protocol. There are alternative administration options (giving smaller doses of the same drug (Cisplatin) more frequently), delaying the dose a week or two, trying a different drug, or simply stopping all chemo and continuing with just the RAtx. Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt … Loved Beyond Measure. July 15, 2012. The meeting Friday was productive, albeit no miracles proposed or offered. Dr. Hassan was in agreement that attempting the same chemo protocol that landed Mom in the hospital three weeks ago was not a viable option at this point. She is reluctant to try a new chemo drug (Cetuximab) until we’ve attempted the original in smaller doses with preparation before, during and after for any dehydrating effects. Until next time ….
