Two back-to-back dramatic health episodes (including an E.R. visit to a scary urban hospital in the middle of gangland), finals, summer vacation, two trials at work, seasonal affective disorder, restless leg syndrome, social anxiety affliction, and carpal tunnel. A Crow in the Snow. And Stay of Execution.

Friday, January 06, 2006. Give in less to negativity/depression/cynicism/irritation. Try harder to be happy and make people around me feel happy and accepted. Be more adventurous, do more fun things even at the expense of useful things. Be more present in everything I do, not always in the future. Make sure the people I love know I love them. Eat healthier and not live out of the law school vending machines. See the Northern Lights. Go skiing at least once every winter. See the Canadian Rockies.

Wednesday, March 30, 2005. When It IS Brain Surgery. E and I just got back from an emergency run to Charlottesville, where his sister discovered that she had a brain tumor and had to have surgery one day later. The tumor was 7 inches by 4 inches, but the day after the surgery, she was sitting up and talking and even directing the nurses as to her care (she is a head nurse at that hospital).
