NSIP Center of the Nation Sale Consignments. We have consigned four yearling rams and two yearling ewes to the NSIP Center of The Nation Sale in Spencer Iowa. Alberda 265 is sired by K bar K 7132 and was born on pasture in May 2012 and raised on forage until weaning. He was used on a couple of ewes as a ram lamb and will be used during the 2013 breeding season. He is QR at codon 171. He was sold in 2014 to another flock. We lamb between 50 and 60 ewes, with half of the flock lambing in February in a barn and the other half lambing outside on pasture in May. Our flock is enrolled in the National Sheep Improvement Program (NSIP) , which allows us to utilize Estimated Breeding Values (EBVs) to identify and select genetically superior animals which enable us to ensure genetic improvement within our flock from year to year. Alberda 322 is sired by Meeuwse 914 and was born in February 2013. He is a smaller framed, but thick ram, who seems to be very "easy keeping". He is RR at codon 171. Carson 1479 was the sire of our foundation Dorset ewes.
