Schuylerville, N.Y. The 12th annual Turning Point Festival will be held on Saturday August 6th. Vendors with questions about the festival can email turningpointfestival@live.com. We are looking for all types of vendors and crafters. This is an outside event taking place at Fort Hardy Park. Standard spaces are 10 x 10. Additional space is extra. Schuylerville, N.Y. A Brief History of Schuylerville. In 1862, the 77th NY Co. K regiment was formed from village residents. It left with full ranks and less than one half came back. Of those who returned nearly all were crippled. A total of 340 people from the village were in the Civil War. From 1888-89 electric lights were introduced into the village. The original idea for the Turning Point Parade was to serve as a public reminder of the importance of this area in the history of our country; in particular,the defeat of the British Army in 1777 during the American War for Independence. This event has been deemed the Turning Point of the American Revolution by many historians. The American victory at Saratoga convinced France to join the war and support the American cause.
