Our 4-Year Sabbatical: Peru, Africa and Thailand. Archive for March, 2010. Puppies: Kids at Warp Speed! March 25, 2010. This from John: Around Thanksgiving, 6 puppies were born on our homestead (3 male, 3 female). A week later, their mother died, Jordan adopted them and before I knew it, I had become a new father. Really though, it’s much easier than it sounds and there are amazingly beautiful expanses of nature, friendly people and great food within an easy drive of Swaziland. Our 4-Year Sabbatical: Peru, Africa and Thailand. Diving in Southern Thailand! March 31, 2012. I took a dip into the south for a couple of weeks to do some diving. One of the things that came from the last 10 day meditation course – remember to keep my life balanced! Diving is certainly a good balance to sitting meditation. All work and no play…. Ko Tao was just the beginning, the islands and the water surrounding them just kept getting more remote and beautiful as the trip unfolded. Island Inlet Phi Phi.

Given what I can discern about the world, what is a reasonable way to live in it? What if anything, am I to do about the suffering and confusion I see around me? Are they not mine? Just what is disposable income? Where are the boundaries? How far can these artificial barriers be extended before something precious is lost? What is being lost because of them?
