Like I Have Time For This? Tales from that homeschooling poet in Colorado. The sky is a drama queen. I keep coming back to that, still. September 24, 2014. I’ve been quieter than usual lately, and I’m sorry about that. I know I promised you I’d keep you updated, and this past month I’ve done a terrible job at it. I have no excuses, except for that whole we-just-moved-back-across-the-country thing, I suppose. I can milk that a little longer can’t I? Because that’s all I know how to do. On Mondays I write ...

Our excellent learning adventures. Our summer so far. August 3, 2013. The summer of 2013 so far has been a summer of relaxing and savouring. We haven’t been overly busy, just enjoying the glorious weather, exploring our own fair city and being outdoors as much as possible. We’ve spent time with … Continue reading →. June 21, 2013. Dance Recital 2013 | Our excellent learning adventures

Our excellent learning adventures. Our summer so far →. June 21, 2013. The annual dance recital is definitely one of Sam, Noah and Juliet’s highlights of the spring. While photography is not allowed during the actual recital, parents are allowed to go crazy with flashbulbs popping during the dress rehearsal. Noah’s jazz dance (to the tune of Patsy Cline’s “Walking After Midnight”). Noah’s ballet dance – in classical style. Noah’s modern dance. Juliet’s ballet dance (where they were forest fairies). You a...

Our excellent learning adventures. Child Run 2013 →. A post from Juliet. May 10, 2013. Welcome to my new fairy blog! One of the things I’ve seen that prove that fairies are real is this: sometimes I would look out our mail slot at night because it is quite wide and I would see tiny glowing lights in the trees. And then I would look at the house behind it and see that there were no lights coming from there. So, that meant the light must have been coming from the trees. Once, I was in my backyard out near ...

Our excellent learning adventures. A post from Juliet. Dance Recital 2013 →. June 2, 2013. Here are Sam and Noah from the 2007 Child Run:. My how things have changed! The funny thing is that I thought that the kids were getting so big back then, and now I just look at those photos and say “awwww”. The warm up…. The pre-race photo (as Sam expressed his feeling that we really don’t need photos taken). The post-race photo – complete with medals. This entry was posted in just for fun. A post from Juliet.

Unnecessary musings of a random nature. Saturday, July 14, 2012. Wow - a lot sure can happen in three months! The biggest news is that I graduated from the University of Washington with my Master's of Education degree. Here I am after the ceremony with my "hood" on. Now I am job-hunting, teaching summer school two days a week, and REALLY enjoying a break from homework and studying. I have lots of funny stories and now I also have time to share them! Cheers friends, I've missed you. Im so proud of you!

Whatever: Two Cultures, One Marriage
http://whateverkaty.blogspot.com/2008/07/two-cultures-one-marriage.html
Unnecessary musings of a random nature. Friday, August 1, 2008. Two Cultures, One Marriage. My Mom says now that I was always a good judge of character, others tell me that it was pure dumb luck that our marriage has been so successful. I think it's more a combination of the two along with lots of patience and hard work on both of our parts. The toughest part has been reconciling our two very different cultures into one household. Just letting you know there's no crazies here. It was husband's suggestion...

Whatever: Snowpocalypse 2012
http://whateverkaty.blogspot.com/2012/01/snowpocalypse-2012.html
Unnecessary musings of a random nature. Thursday, January 19, 2012. When it snows in the Seattle area, the whole town shuts down. The Oatmeal has a comic. That pretty much sums up the conversation that everyone in Western Washington has been having lately. But I prefer the pictoral proof of Snowmaggedon descending upon Seattle. And all my Facebook friends who were praying for snow, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! I hate snow. I hate cold. I hate ice. I wonder if they need English teachers in Mexico? I could NEVER ...

Hula Hank: September 2011

Tuesday, September 6, 2011. GSMS - Balmain Cafe #1. Although this is the second post of the Great Sydney Martini Search, and the first post was about the fourth bar, this post is about the first and second bars, which weren’t bars but cafes. If you need me to repeat that, I will but I cannot promise it will make any more sense the second time it did the first time around. We asked the host if we could get a couple martinis. He looked at his watch, looked at us and said, “Now? I am going to make a sidenot...
