8211; Is this a wicker basket we're in? Review and Spoiler Policy. Your Book is Why Daddy Drinks. Where You Hang Your Hat. Christopher Lee →. May 26, 2015. So Saturday I went back to BayCon, the local, (nominally) science-fiction writers’ convention in the Bay Area. Two years back I wrote It’s not you, it’s meok, it is a little you, but it’s also a little me. A post about the state of BayCon as it applied to me. More or less my opinions from 2013 haven’t changed. Similarly, the attendance seemed low....

8211; Is this a wicker basket we're in? Review and Spoiler Policy. Your Book is Why Daddy Drinks. Shared Joy is Multiplied →. June 11, 2015. Supposedly Peter stopped, thought about it for a moment, and kept the next take. Christopher Lee, you see, was a member of Special Operations Executive. He was a god damn Nazi hunter. He played both Dracula and Frankenstein. He was both Holmes brothers. He was Death and Lucifer and a Bond villain which might as well be the first two combined. He was a Sith Lord.

Another Boatride Around the Sun and a Movie Review: Ant-Man. July 24, 2015. Today will finish up my “birthday” stuff. Michelle’s wrapping up some work and in a bit we’ll be heading out to grab lunch before seeing Jurassic World. So, honestly, I’m of two-minds with this movie. I certainly enjoyed myself and, from the standpoint of a comic book movie, it’s not...

8211; Is this a wicker basket we're in? Review and Spoiler Policy. Your Book is Why Daddy Drinks. Review and Spoiler Policy. That being said, there are some people who are rather sensitive when it comes to discussing books and movies for the dreaded spoiler. Now, I get the threat of spoilers, I really do, especially when a particular twist is integral to the plot of a story or movie. Can you imagine being told who Keyser Söze was before watching The Usual Suspects. Simply stating a detail about a book or...

12 in 12 Project (2011). And then it was November →. November is well under way by now, which means Dickens is quickly approaching. Rather than face the same last-minute panic as last year, Roo and I have gone through everything in my closet and determined that absolutely none of my costumes are 100% good to go (some fixes are as simple as needing to move the skirt hooks, other pieces may be better off remade entirely). A Aqua/Orange Paisley Bodice closures ( 1″). A Aqua/Orange Paisley Skirt placket.

12 in 12 Project (2011). And then it was November. Since November →. The problem with fittings…. The problem with fittings is that at some point they become less about figuring out how to let out a seam here and there in your favorite bodice to fit a slightly fuller figured you and more about weighing the pros and cons of ripping the whole thing apart and starting over (or even passing the dress over altogether for something completely different). Case in point – my aqua and orange plaid. I made an every...

12 in 12 Project (2011). Catching up on life. Circular needle case →. Is easy enough to define – it’s the pledge to make at least 25% of your clothing over the course of the next year. They can be knit or sewn, made by machine or hand, be as basic as a scarf or as intricate as a suit. It’s not quite as easy to determine what it means to each person. It began with Kristine of A Verb for Keeping Warm. Commit to making 25% of my clothing. Clothing should be adjustable, customizable, and personal. I’ve...

12 in 12 Project (2011). Costuming Clean-Up →. There are 16 pockets total, each 4″x6″, and just what I needed! The only changes I’d make to a future version would be to create flaps for each row of pockets so they don’t possibly fall out and a ribbon to tie the whole thing closed. The only real downside to the project is that I *still* have more of this fabric left… So who wants a circular needle holder? On September 23, 2012 in Things that aren't clothes. Having a child is like crossing the rubicon, you can never go back again. On Surviving the Holidays and the Constancy of Wonder. Baby’s First Christmas has come and gone. I’m not sure what the big deal was supposed to be. People say “Christmas is for children! The wonder of Christmas? Or more importantly, how does having a child in your life not return the wonder to. A Sunday morning Farmer’s Market is a riot of excitement to her, how is that not like Christmas every weekend? Won’t you guide my sleigh!

Having a child is like crossing the rubicon, you can never go back again. Mothering my biracial baby installment 2: My hair obsession. I’m here to admit it: I’m completely obsessed with my daughter’s hair. I hated my hair before; I love it now. It is my crown. It fits my personality and life in a way chemically straightened hair never did. So I’ve been worrying about this baby’s hair from the beginning. How will I teach her to manage it without vanity, or love it without judgment? Now, we’re at her one y...

Having a child is like crossing the rubicon, you can never go back again. On What I’m Writing Now. The writingwell, the topic varies. I’m taking a break from short stories and working on my two longer novel length pieces, both of which I adore and can’t possibly leave well enough alone. But none of it is what I. So now, what am I writing about? Well, what I. To write about is what I know right now: I want to write about maternity. I want to invent a mother and put her in all these settings spaceships...

Having a child is like crossing the rubicon, you can never go back again. Isn’t social networking a little redundant? I mean, isn’t all socialization a matter of building a network? As in it is between two different nodes along a wire? That being neither here nor there, I just wanted to take a moment to give put my Internet support where my pocketbook and my feet already are: behind a fine author, who also happens to be a client of mine and a damn fine friend. Since then I have become. I can personally v...
