Two-Wheeled Tourist: PVC Pipes and Gerbils Straight Outta Hawthorne: A Cautionary Tale (NSFW)

http://twowheeledtourist.blogspot.com/2015/03/pvc-pipes-and-gerbils-straight-outta.html

Long Distance Touring Resources. PVC Pipes and Gerbils Straight Outta Hawthorne: A Cautionary Tale (NSFW). And reading through Fifty Shades Freed. As I had touched on in the previous paragraph, this particular user was more concerned with performing certain acts my rear end than to say, my hobbies outside of work or how I liked my coffee. I shot him down very early in the morning whilst in the middle of several cups of coffee and a crepe. He came back for more. I shot him down again. Now, as a veteran of...

Two-Wheeled Tourist: February 2015

http://twowheeledtourist.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Long Distance Touring Resources. Motorcycle Absurdities at IKEA.an impromptu photo session. This photo series takes me back to the week leading up to Singles Awareness Day (a.k.a. February 14 for all you cynical, non-committed relationship type folk). It was one of those weeks that needed a visit to IKEA. It was time to go test out some couches. Posted by Christine Malazarte. Two-Wheeled Tourist: August 2014

http://twowheeledtourist.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Long Distance Touring Resources. Yep, Im still out. And so is Eleanor. So who wants to teach me how to.dance? What a summer.and it's not over yet. After doing the same, planned cross-country ride to a specific destination every July since 2007 with Eleanor. Long-awaited is right. Like I'm still waiting. Or call the store. Get hired, go wrench some bikes, kill the service backlog, and help me get Eleanor back on the road again. See where I went there? Blares for the umpteenth time in an hour. Posted by Ch...

Two-Wheeled Tourist: In Memoriam: the Subaru "Taxi" (9/29/04-5/13/11)

http://twowheeledtourist.blogspot.com/2011/05/in-memoriam-subaru-taxi-92904-51311.html

Long Distance Touring Resources. In Memoriam: the Subaru "Taxi" (9/29/04-5/13/11). After six years and 109,881 miles, the 2003 Subaru Outback wagon that I've owned since college was totaled by insurance under unforseen circumstances. Not the way I wanted to see that machine go. I rolled out of the dealer lot of Timmons Subaru. Las Vegas (January 2008): I make the super-wise decision to drive the Taxi STRAIGHT into a packed pile of Zamboni-dumped snow at the hockey rink. Matt triumphantly stands in fr...

Two-Wheeled Tourist: Tales from the Battle Wagon - how a slightly broken BMW repaired a part of my heart.

http://twowheeledtourist.blogspot.com/2015/04/tales-from-battle-wagon-how-slightly.html

Long Distance Touring Resources. Tales from the Battle Wagon - how a slightly broken BMW repaired a part of my heart. I may call myself the Two-Wheeled Tourist, but I wouldn't be where I am now without a little help from my four-wheeled companion, a 1999 BMW 528i (E39) wagon in Oxford Green Metallic. I acquired this vehicle in May 2011 as a replacement to my beloved 2003 Subaru Outback that found its demise in a collision. And then there was that one ridiculous stunt. Fast forward to the beginning of 2014.

Two Wheeled Obsession

Tuesday, November 26, 2013. Brotherly Love and Loss. I’ve spent the day in pain, hurting, crying with the loss of a beloved brother taken from this world far too soon. But I’ve also smiled, remembering good times, fun times, and always that big fucking smile, and his voice saying “How YOU doin’! The one solace I take is that he went out doing something he loved doing: riding. At least he got that. I only hope that when my time comes, I can go in a similar way. I love you and will miss you. Better news: B...

Two Wheeled Tales

Is this thing on? You'll let me know when you've started recording, right? Damn-any chance we can start over? Monday, August 10, 2015. Ocean Mist Breakfast Run. Our Road Captain (Ed) had put the word out to the crew; there would be a breakfast run this past Sunday morning, complete with lots of miles and a bloody mary at the end. Who would be brave enough to accept the challenge? We hear a lot from the other Riders about how we need to get together more often and go riding. Oh well, fuck it. We found a p...

Two Wheeled Texan

Thursday, October 16, 2014. Pisco Elqui, Elqui Valley. If you are fortunate enough to land in the early evening hours you may enjoy the same sunset that we did: one that set the mountains ablaze. Once in Pisco Elqui, I would highly recommend lodging in the Balcones de Pisco Elqui. Pisco Elqui is located in the heart of the Elqui valley and provides a great basecamp for walking (or renting cheap bicycles and cycling) along the valley. Chile is the largest pisco producer (and consumer) in the world. Al...

Two-Wheeled Trajectory

Tuesday, August 5, 2008. Toronto to Whitby, return. 118 km. I spent my Simcoe Day doubling up a previous ride I'd made along the lakefront east to Whitby. Last time (a few weeks ago) the intention had just been to see the Waterfront Trail, spurred on by the GO-by-Bike. Bayly Street's Whitby continuation). Please harass your council. Something needs to be done. And he'd have been able to make his turn anyway. Distance: 118 km (two stages of 60 km each). Ride Time: 5 hours 9 minutes. The genesis of this bl...

Two Wheeled Travel

Sunday, January 12, 2014. Over the past 5 years or so, I have been into dual-sport/adventure motorcycle travel. I have taken a ride to Alaska. And across the lonesome West (a few times). With plenty of exploring in the forest closest to me. I've been asked a lot about the routes I've ridden, as well as the bikes, and gear I use. This blog is an effort to consolidate everything, and hopefully post some useful/relevant info to help answer to common questions and inspire others planning similar exploits.

One Man, Two Wheels, Three Americas | North, Central & South America by motorcycle

One Man, Two Wheels, Three Americas. North, Central and South America by motorcycle. Where Did I Go? Another Good Day in Colombia. August 8, 2012. In this manner I leapfrogged almost all the congestion along this hilly, twisty part of the country. This is exactly why you want a motorbike if you are travelling in this part of the world. This part of Colombia was a lot less developed than the central highlands and all manner of weird and wonderful vehicles plied that highways and byways here. I was glad I ...
