The Bowtie Professor: November 2010
http://thebowtieprof.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Investing today for tenure later. Wednesday, November 24, 2010. New social media is dead; the internet is dead. Not too long ago, a friend of mine commented on how blogging and facebook are dead. Rather than updating this blog or my facebook status, I can now be found theorizing about human behavior and eating sardines in my coat closet. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Modern day old style. A timelessly styled political science professor who is on his way to tenure in California and President in 2012!

The Bowtie Professor: July 2010
http://thebowtieprof.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Investing today for tenure later. Tuesday, July 20, 2010. Academic Poetry pt. 2. Another installment from yesterday's poetry session. By JT (7/19/10 10:25pm). Don’t work on Macs. Like almost everything else. Who remembers where they are? I’ve been here 4 years. Don’t use that reason. It’s not approved. Sign and date on the line. Cross the t’s. Dot the i’s. It’s a legal document. In the cave of other files. Monday, July 19, 2010. The in between place. By JT (7/19/10 9:41pm). There is a black hole. A timel...

The Bowtie Professor: October 2010
http://thebowtieprof.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Investing today for tenure later. Wednesday, October 6, 2010. Everyone remembers their mom telling them to not stare at somebody. Maybe it was the kid in the wheelchair, the lady who had suffered a stroke, or maybe some really creepy homeless dude. Alternatively, I don't have the facial aversion problem with most non-aggressive looking men. I generally try to smile at people, but find myself more often than not, simply looking down or away. It just seems easier. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Bowtie Professor: April 2011
http://thebowtieprof.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Investing today for tenure later. Tuesday, April 12, 2011. I am starting to learn from others. Sounds funny, but I never really got that before. Usually, I would only learn by going through the experience. Thus I have had a lot of good (and bad) experiences. Gratefully I think that has all changed. Two major events stand out in my mind. The Bowtie Professor: April 2010
http://thebowtieprof.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Investing today for tenure later. Tuesday, April 20, 2010. Another story with a guilt theme. I work with the Environmental Studies Program and am affiliated with the Center for Sustainabilty, so I should be 'green,' right? Oh, yeah. Happy earth week. Monday, April 19, 2010. I listen to KPCC. All of the time. (I should have included this disclosure in the guilt post, but I am not a member and really should be.) One night I heard a story about a couple who lost their house to foreclosure. My mother always ...

The Bowtie Professor: January 2011
http://thebowtieprof.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Investing today for tenure later. Sunday, January 16, 2011. SAD in effect - high school style. With my wife's acquisition of a puppy, a couple of weeks of rainy weather, and an overwhelming amount of work that I'm not finishing, I have fallen into a funk. Luckily, I am teaching an undergrad class that permits me a little instant gratification. If it weren't for that class, I would really be down. Normally, I wouldn't have this attitude, but I'm ready to be done with this winter. Friday, January 14, 2011.

The Bowtie Professor: February 2011
http://thebowtieprof.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Investing today for tenure later. Saturday, February 19, 2011. It finally happened, I brought home an older woman. Dearest followers, may I introduce you to my 37 year old Bavarian queen. Her interests include the open road, sunny days, the twisties, and a little throttle now and then. She's got some pretty big jugs (450 CCs on each side) that hang low and straight out to the side. I have a wide seat, she has a wide seat. It does make her a little curvy, but who doesn't like a little curve? Inexperienced...

The Bowtie Professor: January 2010
http://thebowtieprof.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Investing today for tenure later. Sunday, January 31, 2010. The three months of Christmas. Saturday, January 30, 2010. My wife gave birth to our third child. A beautiful little girl, two days before Thanksgiving. She came out very small, 6lbs 14oz. Within a few weeks she didn't seem so small anymore. That didn't stop all of the fear associated with knowing that she completely depends on my wife for everything. Obviously I help out when I can, but I simply don't produce milk. The Bowtie Professor: the Jeep
http://thebowtieprof.blogspot.com/2012/02/jeep.html
Investing today for tenure later. Thursday, February 2, 2012. I have essentially given up on blogging. Yet, the facebook can't complete with blogging when you want to discuss something in more than a short post. So here goes everyone's favorite from math class. a word problem. I don't want to spend more than $22k on a car is we decide to not fix the Jeep. I have good credit, but am averse to going into a lot of debt to buy a tool just to get me to work. Discuss in the comment section. February 2, 2012 at...

The Bowtie Professor: June 2010
http://thebowtieprof.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Investing today for tenure later. Wednesday, June 30, 2010. I understand that I hurt someone's feeling with one of my last blog posts. I apologize. I didn't think that my opinion was important enough to you to change how you feel about yourself or others. My opinion shouldn't do that anyway. Nevertheless, I am sorry to have caused you discomfort. In a few weeks, I will change this to a private blog. Not that it matters. I rarely post and nobody really knows what I'm talking about anyway. Why ...The sprin...
