Analyzing the most common words in bios of Twitter users. As I was walking yesterday, I was thinking it would be interesting to see the most common words in the bios of users I follow on Twitter. The main reason I wanted to write this script was that for users that follow more than a few accounts, this gives an idea of what they are interested in. I enjoy using Twitter to follow politics, news, and tech (and the results for my username. The script to run it yourself is located on Github.

How to copy Github tag labels from one repository to another. With creating new repositories on Github, I frequently found myself wanting to reuse existing tag labels instead of having to create new ones again. Below is a quick script I whipped up that uses the Github API to copy labels from one repo to another. It uses the Octokit gem for interacting with the API.

Analyzing who Congress follows on Twitter. Last year I put together scripts analyzing who various groups follow on Twitter – for example, staff at the New York Times. And Wall Street Journal. The results ended up being pretty popular and were shared. Quite a bit around the web, and were even included in a TED talk. Earlier this year, various people asked me to do the same with Congress, but it made more sense to wait until elections were done and the new Congress was sworn in. The results are displayed.
