March 17, 2015. Parallel Pen at Adobe. We were fortunate to hold a second camp at the Adobe building in San Francisco where Xandra. Helped campers to learn two different parallel pen styles, Blackletter and Neuland. We had two campers from the previous Friday workshop rejoin us as students, and in a great example of how Type Camp is an equal opportunity learning environment, this class also had the previous workshop instructor Alexandre. And local type designer James Edmonson.

October 8, 2013. Curves in Cowboy Country. We had a wonderful weekend in Calgary with two sold-out 1-day script lettering workshops! They were held at the ever-so-funky Fluevog store on 8th Avenue in the downtown core. We were upstairs in the ‘Flueseum’ – a combo exhibition space of Fluevogs and cafe/lounge space. A perfect spot for working with lettering ideas (and a great place to take breaks and try on shoes). The results can be as unique as the maker is. We were lucky enough to have FairGoods.

Tuesday, 29 April 2014. When I'm accepting a design brief from someone it is important that I understand exactly what the client is looking for. One of my favourite questions to ask is what other brands/ websites do you like? Even if they are unrelated to what the client is branding it still gives me a visual clue about their tastes and their idea of good design. My other favourite question is what do you not like? But I love a challenge and both the client and I are very pleased with the outcome.
