August 7, 2011. Finally made it into the mountains. Snow Lake, Snoqualmie Pass, Wash. 4 miles later. 10:30 am. We wore our bathing suits, but we had a snowball fight instead. Andy knew of a secret swimming hole in a river at the bottom of the mountain. The water was more beautiful than it was freezing, but one jump was enough for Jacob and me. No pictures, take my word for it. And this time next week I’ll be somewhere in between places I call ‘home.’. Leaving seattle ». Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Create...

Vancouver, eh? | caffeinative

July 28, 2011. One of the baristas at Elysian gave us a few recommendations. One was for another new café called Innocent, which felt like the kitchen of a dollhouse, but had a sick upstairs art gallery. The barista’s lunch recommendation landed us near Gastown at a new spot called Nelson the Seagull. July 28, 2011. Mariners vs. Rangers. Elliot Bay Book Co. I’ve been super inspired by this new magazine called. A Guide for Small Gatherings. I was beside myself as I read it online. Ridiculous or not, there were tears of joy building up in my feasting eyes. Somehow this group of photographers and writers put the essence of both seclusion and community, peace and presence ideas so intangible and so desired into 172 pages. It would be about Seattle alternatives (instead of Pike Place Market, how about) for...

August 14, 2011. I’ll be leaving Seattle in about eight hours. I’ve managed to avoid most emotional goodbyes with “see you laters” or just not facing them at all. But this city… Will I run away and speed down I-90 or will I give it the proper goodbye that’s owed the proper “see you later”? Madi, Al, Annie and I will hit the road in the morning (Sunday). A dream. Seattle. Helena, MT. Jackson Hole, WY. Denver. St. Louis. Nashville. Chapel Hill. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Error: Tw...

July 17, 2011. You have redeemed my soul. From the pit of emptiness. You have redeemed my soul. I was a hungry child. A dried up river. I was a burned out forest. And no one could do anything for me. But You put food in my body. And water in my dried bed. And to my blackened branches. You brought the springtime. Green of new life. And nothing is impossible for You.
