Professional Communication: Final Refections
http://panda-bingo-bing.blogspot.com/2008/11/final-refections.html
Sunday, November 9, 2008. Much has been learnt after one semester of learning about effective communication. Most importantly, I have picked up some skills with regards to the cartoon strip posted above. Miscommunication has indeed been a factor that has contributed to the misinterpretation of information at almost all levels of my life. Through this course, I have learnt various ways on how to put the intended messages across to my peers, tutors and family members in order to avoid miscommunication.

Tuesday, November 11, 2008. Reading through the first entry of this blog that I had written 12 weeks ago, I am able to clearly recall my attitude towards and expectation of attending this course. As I think through and reflect on the assignments and the other course requirements that I had to fulfil, I found that most of my expectations and goals have been met and achieved. Friday, August 29, 2008. In a committee formed by a group of fifteen people, we have characters A, B and C. A is the chairperson of the committee, B is the project leader for an event and C is the in-charge for logistics for this particular event. C believed that he was short-handed and asked B for more manpower since there were people who had no job allocation. However, B insisted that she has allocated sufficient manpower to C and that the remaining party were meant for emergency. At this point of time...

Thursday, August 28, 2008. To start off this post, I would like to share a video which I found on www.youtube.com which shows us the various conflict management styles. I still remembered I had to manage a conflict during my secondary four school days. I was the captain of my school's Track and Field team. Prior to the annual Nationals' Schools Track and Field Championship, my team had a time trial to decide who gets to run the sprint relays. Being the captain and the most senior member of the team, he t...

Sunday, September 28, 2008. With globalisation, intercultural interaction becomes inevitable. Work made across the globe require people to learn and understand the culture of their clients and colleagues. In my opinion, making an attempt to understand and accept the difference in culture shows a speaker's sincerity and the respect they have for the other party. I take an example of a German girl, Kathrin, interacting with a colleague, Zhang, from China. Hence, when dealing with intercultural communicatio...

Sunday, September 28, 2008. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Muslim calendar. The term "Ramadan" comes from the word. Fasting during this month is often thought to figuratively burn away all sins. The month is spent by Muslims fasting during the daylight hours from dawn to sunset. At that point of time, we felt sorry that we did not consider his feelings as a Muslim. However, at that age, we just could not understand what did we do that made him think that way. In a multi racial society in Singapore, mu...

Saturday, October 18, 2008. Playing soccer is what I like to engage myself in during my free time. Through this sport, I discovered the importance of teamwork, discipline and determination. Furthermore, playing soccer also taught me the importance of focus. Furthermore, I will do a reflection on my daily activities at the end of the day. This is to ensure that I learn from mistakes and not repeat them again. The Team i'm in. Sunday, October 12, 2008. Reflecting on the Research Project Experience. On top ...
