My thoughts: May 2005

Wednesday, May 25, 2005. For the past few weeks, I'm trying to master the art of making Gucalmole. Yesterday was the day it came out really well. I used dry red chillies, roasted the chillies and onions a little bit and ground everything. It tasted very nice. Avocado is such a different fruit, its so creamy and buttery inside. The hard seed inside, is such a contrast to the fruit. I wonder why we don't get it in India. Here is quick Gucalmole recipe. 3- Avocado. Scoop out the fruit with a spoon.

Friday, April 28, 2006. Stamping at Nogales, Mexico. Stamping at Nogales Mexico. We had planned to get our visa stamping done at Nogales, Mexico, because that was the only place where appointments were easily available at the earliest. I would like to write a web log of our travel and the procedure involved, since I found it very difficult to get any information in the web. This is for US Embassy Nogales, Mexico. Step 1: Fix an appointment thru http:/ www.visa-usa.com.mx/default.aspx. 5 They do fingerpri...

Monday, June 18, 2007. Every once in a while #1. What a lovely name. I could write an essay on why I think 'Remember the milk'. Is a great name for a web app that helps you manage tasks. Fortunately for you, I shan't. Friday, June 01, 2007. I'm going take a break from this naming business blog and spend my free time writing my Magnum Flopus. Friday, May 25, 2007. Pixetra v/s Anything else. An acquaintance of ours came up with the name Pixetra. For a store that sells digital cameras and related equipment. I love it. The name says it all. It says pictures. It says pixels. It says digital. It says etcetra. It's what a great name should be. It might even get by without the need for a tagline. An almost perfect brand name for the product it is advertising. Long and Short cut: 7/10. Thursday, May 17, 2007. FedEx Kinkos v/s Finkos v/s KinkEx. Run b...

Wednesday, May 16, 2007. Sepia Mutiny v/s India Uncut. Run by an internet acquiantance of mine, is a great name for a site that positions itself as a daily source of interesting, Indiacentric and, most of all, independent news. On the other hand goes in for the interesting, USA-relevant tactic of colour-type plus aggression. Long and Short cut: 7/10. Long and Short cut: 7/10. Long and Short cut: 7/10. Adden for the dumb:. Sunday, December 31, 2006. Name gallery #9: 7/10. More brand name puffery from Al and Laura Ries. Interview is anything to go by Al and Laura Ries ought to drop the famous surname from their name. Everything they say in this interview goes against the one big reason the Ries' are what they are today: Their old name. Saturday, December 30, 2006. Is it so hard to come up with an orginal name? Name gallery #8: 7/10. Friday, December 29, 2006. Was written in 2004. Obviously, some questions never go away.

Übernamer: Apple v/s Big Blue
http://ubernamer.blogspot.com/2007/05/apple-vs-big-blue.html
Friday, May 11, 2007. Apple v/s Big Blue. An old classic in naming strategy is being debated over at Thingnamer. And I can't help but attempt a deconstruction. When Apple was introduced, Big Blue ruled the roost. Steve Jobs and his Gang of Blue-busters needed to come up with something so memorable that people would make an instant connection with the new product without having to be told about it time and again; Apple, you see, would never be able to match Big Blue in terms of marketing muscle. Adden for...

Friday, May 11, 2007. Koolickles v/s Kool-Aid Pickles. The retailers of this new brand launched in USA include Double Quick, a chain of more than 30 stores, which has even applied for "a trademark for Koolickle, a name coined by Rick Beuning, its director of food service, who says: "I'm a white boy from the Midwest . This isn't my food, but I know a good product when I see one.". Personally speaking, I know a good name when I see one. Koolickles is a good one. Very. Why do I like Koolickles?
