This Week in Art: December 15-19. This was the last week of Term "C" art classes for 6th grade. We spent our last day melting our plastic abstract flower forms into 3-dimensional bowl-like shapes, which will be hung up in the cafeteria and become part of our year-long installation inspired by the artwork of Dale Chihuly. This week in art: April 21-25. Remember: Ms. Heuel is currently our student teacher in the art room until May 9th. Mrs. Leban will still be blogging about what's happening in the art room in the meantime, but the day-to-day happenings and lessons are all being run by Ms. Heuel! This week is the first week of Term F for 6th and 7th grade art classes. That's a big deal, because it's the LAST TERM of the school year! It's hard to believe that we're this close to being finished with school! We did not get to...

This Week in Art: January 26-30. Today is a teacher institute day; therefore, no student bloggers this week. This week, 6th grade students worked on the base, or background coat of their letter sculptures using acrylic paint. Each student picks two colors, and tries to have the two colors blend across from one to the other, creating an "ombre" effect. Next week, we'll begin adding all-over patterns on our sculptures, like the examples pictured above. In other art news. Thanks for another great week!
