Community Description
Tuesday, May 02, 2006. Located west of Philadelphia, Ardmore, PA is part of the elite Main Line. Within the borough. There is a very diverse population racially, ethnically, economically and socially. I will be focusing on an area of Ardmore that historically has had a lower socio-economic. On the Main Line. Thursday, May 04, 2006. This map shows the building where I live as well as the surrounding roughly quarter of a mile that encircles my residence. Gentrification
Friday, May 05, 2006. Many non-black Hispanics and Caucasians have been buying the properties put up for sale. They are generally starter homes for the new residents. The racial make-up of the community has been changing over the past few years and with the new construction, I believe it will continue to do so. Friday, May 05, 2006. In reference to the healthscape of an area, Dr. Masucci asked the class to write down characteristics in the following categories: individual, community, and health systems. These created a framework for the fieldwork. In addition to healthy food, there are exercise options for people of all ages. There are two playgrounds in the community.
