Modern Suzie: May 2011
http://modernsuzie.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
May 25, 2011. I'm Back, I Swear. I'll start with the exciting news that I had this morning; I won a pattern from Rebecca at UglyCuteDesigns. Go check out her blog)! It's a lovely retro leotard and I honestly can't wait to make it. Look at it's glory:. I can't decide between the yellow and green though. I really hope I can pull it off. I promise not to wear it out of my house (unless someone tells me I look awesome in it). Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

New Look 6454, The Couture Version – Part III. May 1, 2011 · 2:36 pm. Vogue 1224 Tracy Reese Dress. Things have been very busy for me since I returned from Couture Boot Camp! I am still working on my strapless dress whenever time permits but found myself with a free day today so I thought I’d whip up a simple summer dress from Vogue 1224 by Tracy Reese. As soon as this pattern was released I knew I’d use this jersey from Gorgeous Fabrics. Filed under New Look. 42 responses to “. May 1, 2011 at 3:15 pm.

The Traveling Seamstress: Challenges #2, #3, and #4!!
http://sewingbynalcantara.blogspot.com/2013/09/challenges-2-3-and-4.html
My Journey Through Sewing. Monday, September 30, 2013. Challenges #2, #3, and #4! Time to play a little catch up! The first group of pictures are from the 2nd challenge, the Salme dress. I fell in love with this cotton fabric when I first saw it and thought this was the perfect opportunity to use it. The great thing about this pretty netting, was that it didn't have to be finished and I thing it gives it a more whimsical, romantic feel. Don't you? So on to challenge #3! Remember that bundle we sent you?

The Traveling Seamstress: January 2012
http://sewingbynalcantara.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
My Journey Through Sewing. Sunday, January 29, 2012. I've always needed more basics in my wardrobe. You know, those classic pieces that I can pair with lots of outfits and that will withstand the changes in fashion. I knew that I needed a blazer-type jacket and I finally got around to making one. I fell in love with the peplum style of McCall's 6206 and finally found a great wool tweed to use. The first thing I have to say about this jacket is, holy pleats! I'm not experienced with bound button holes and...

The Traveling Seamstress: September 2012
http://sewingbynalcantara.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
My Journey Through Sewing. Wednesday, September 19, 2012. Anyway, blah, blah, blah. Let's get to my final project! I am so proud of it, can you tell? I decided to do two pieces, so the top is a peplum sleeveless blouse with a Peter Pan collar and the bottom is a simple pencil skirt. The top has a separating zipper and the pencil skirt has an invisible zipper. The top was a little big on the form, and if time had allowed I would have taken it in, but that was my last priority. The Traveling Seamstress: Round #4, LBD
http://sewingbynalcantara.blogspot.com/2013/10/round-4-lbd.html
My Journey Through Sewing. Wednesday, October 9, 2013. Round #4, LBD. So, the fourth challenge was one of my favorites so far. A little black dress? It's something I could use forever. I had bought this beautiful herringbone wool/cashmere blend and I was just dying to use it. This seemed like the perfect opportunity. I used this boring ol' pattern:. I shortened the length by 4 inches because I wanted a mod-style dress. And of course with stockings, you can get away with a shorter hemline. Sewing a garmen...
