Siem Reap, Cambodia and Sickness While Traveling. April 23, 2014. It had to finally happen to me. I had been hearing stories of getting food poisoning or some type of sickness while traveling ever since I had begun this journey. I felt lucky that I hadn’t gotten sick thus far and thought it was because I had an iron stomach. but the night before my … Continue reading →. From Cultural Chiang Mai to Magical Pai. My Time with the World Wildlife Fund in Nepal. December 30, 2013. WWF Nepal has a landscape approach to conservation it used to be focused on specific sites or issues, such as tiger conservation and rhino conservation, with less focus on people’s livelihoods. Under the new approach people can benefit from conservation and feel a sense of ownership towards the wildlife, thus wanting to protect it. Ecotourism is a key part of this. At a local home in Sauraha, greeting the animals. Where the paper gets made.

The Amazing Elephant Nature Park of Chiang Mai. January 10, 2014. The park itself is a huge open air space in Northern Thailand where elephants roam freely, surrounded by beautiful lush mountains on all sides with a river flowing through the valley. It’s amazing to see these elephants without restraints and barriers, living without human desires imposed upon them. Many of them come from abused backgrounds in the logging and tourist industries, and could have never hoped for such a life. You are commentin...

Bangkok is a Change. January 2, 2014. My first mission upon arriving at the home of my hosts was to utilize Thailand’s great cheap healthcare- I needed some rabies vaccines. Three shots cost $375 each in the U.S., which in Bangkok they each only cost around $15. I couldn’t pass up that deal and made my way to the Hospital for Tropical Disease’s travel clinic. I highly recommend this form of medical tourism if you can do it! I accidentally found myself in the middle of one of the large political protests ...

Monthly Archives: January 2014. From Cultural Chiang Mai to Magical Pai. January 16, 2014. There were other activities to do in Chiang Mai besides feeding rehabilitated elephants. Monthly Archives: December 2013. The Street Dogs of Kathmandu. December 31, 2013. The different attitudes and approaches towards street animals in one country versus another is a fascinating topic. In Thailand, street cats were everywhere, but I watched as men would bring bike loads of cat food to feed these strays in the streets. However, locals told me rumors that the street dogs were often carted off … Continue reading →. My Time with the World Wildlife Fund in Nepal. December 30, 2013. The Street Dog...
