Diamond Jubilee – the Avenue of Sails. 61 tall ships (those too large to go all the way in the Thames pageant) were moored along the river between London Bridge and Wapping over the Jubilee weekend. More like an ‘Avenue of Masts’, but still an impressive view eastward from Tower Bridge. The Royal Arms of England on Sceptre (America’s Cup challenger in 1958) in St.Katherine’s Dock. In good British tradition for major public holidays (so I’m told) the Diamond Jubilee Sunday started off with a slight drizzle – to turn into a major downpour right then as the Queen passed through Tower Bridge to watch the rest of the pageant from outside St.Katherine’s Dock (just like me from a little further back). 2 pm along the river: waiting for the pageant. Old Battle Flags inside Dunkeld Cathedral. Pitlochly: old Victorian holiday town. 8211; reconstructed village. Fireplace inside one of the reconstructed houses. Wall flowers snow on the mountains in the background. Clava Cairns = cemetery ca 2000 BC. Stones surrounding the graves – older than Stonehenge. Viaduct on the way to Inverness.
