JP Speaks: Gig Report: Beehoover @ Chunk, Leeds
http://jptds.blogspot.com/2016/09/gig-report-beehoover-chunk-leeds.html
Meanwhile, in Yorkshire. Monday, 19 September 2016. Gig Report: Beehoover @ Chunk, Leeds. Or "Dad goes to a noisy metal gig". A 2 piece German rock outfit. Are one of my favourite bands at the moment with powerful riffs, great drumming, intelligent and surreal lyrics. As soon as I saw they were on a 10 day UK tour including Leeds I booked my ticket (only a fiver! Is a fairly new Leeds music venue. By the sounds of it. With a DIY collective ethic. Got chatting to a guy outside the venue, Chris, who put us...

JP Speaks: December 2015

Meanwhile, in Yorkshire. Tuesday, 15 December 2015. Open 5 Adventure Race - North Wales - Dec 2015. 6am alarm on a Sunday after entertaining dinner party guests until late. Urgh. 2C on the car thermometer. Brrrr. Scraping ice from the outside and inside of the windscreen. Meh. Even Bernard doesn't want to start this morning, coughing once before his diesel engine grumbles into life. Don't blame you mate. Who decided this was a good idea? I started off with a decent value few roadside controls before star...

JP Speaks: May 2016
http://jptds.blogspot.com/2016_05_01_archive.html
Meanwhile, in Yorkshire. Monday, 30 May 2016. Bikepacking 2: Kettlewell Trip. Jenny loaded up with camping things. Bloody Alpkit. It was a very pleasant spin up through Cononley into the back of Skipton and then out on the Grassington road, light sunshine and cloud. Traffic wasn't too heavy and was mostly respectful and well driven. It was good fun riding in convoy and with everyone loaded differently we looked like a proper travelling circus. The Travelling Circus: Chris, Jonny, me, Adam. The meat and p...

JP Speaks: April 2016

Meanwhile, in Yorkshire. Monday, 18 April 2016. Don't Let The Existential Dread Set In. I saw this on Facebook the other day and it summed up perfectly how I was feeling at the time. I'm normally fairly resilient towards feeling down but a heavy cold, lack of sleep and busy family commitments prevented me from the usual antidote of getting out for a run or a ride. Original can be found here at Blue Chair comics. The moment passes, music and tea always helps. Wednesday, 13 April 2016. Provides DC bias in ...

JP Speaks: January 2016
http://jptds.blogspot.com/2016_01_01_archive.html
Meanwhile, in Yorkshire. Wednesday, 27 January 2016. Shortcrust, Short Selling, Short Stuff, Short Stem. My Cube Analog 29er "Herman" is a fairly basic MTB with a geometry (e.g. 70 degree head angle) that suggests it is aimed at cross country (XC) and easier trails. With a 700mm bar and a 90mm stem as stock it is a very stable bike to ride. I've had it (slowly) round the red trail at Gisburn. Part cos it was the cheapest 50mm stem available at the time. Along the track to the golf course it seemed to fee...

JP Speaks: Sturmey Archer AW3 Gear Hub Strip and Rebuild
http://jptds.blogspot.com/2016/07/sturmey-archer-aw3-gear-hub-strip-and.html
Meanwhile, in Yorkshire. Wednesday, 20 July 2016. Sturmey Archer AW3 Gear Hub Strip and Rebuild. I've been having fun rebuilding the internal gear hub on my commuter bike. Meet "Frank The Tank". He is called Frank the Tank because he's a Frankenstein of new and second hand bike parts from lots of places and because he's no lightweight ;) I built him up from parts scavenged from five different donor bikes and a few new parts too. Advert for the Sturmey Archer / Raleigh 3 speed hub. And the modern version.

JP Speaks: September 2015
http://jptds.blogspot.com/2015_09_01_archive.html
Meanwhile, in Yorkshire. Wednesday, 30 September 2015. My favourite time of the year is here. Nights drawing in meaning it is time to break out the headtorch and the big light for the mountain bike. Foggy mornings burning off into warm clear days. Fruit on the trees begging to be made into nice things. Yellow, gold and red starting to appear on the trees too. Tuesday, 1 September 2015. MeepFest Games Festival 2015, Left Bank, Leeds. Jack, who organises our gaming club. Keighley Table Top Combat. We just ...

JP Speaks: Married :)
http://jptds.blogspot.com/2016/09/married.html
Meanwhile, in Yorkshire. Saturday, 3 September 2016. It's been quiet on the blog front mainly because it has been a busy few months. Most notably, Louise and I tied the knot in June, a wonderful day in the presence of our dear friends. A couple of months later, we had a big celebration garden party for friends and family. Much hog roast was eaten and many drinks were drunk. Appropriately, we had a wonderful cheese wedding cake. I'm a very lucky man :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
