I live on the ground floor of a three story house. My landlord lives on the top floor with his wife; his son and son’s wife live on the second floor. We don’t run into each other all that much, but they invite me to share certain occasions with them. This week, the son and his wife finally had their babies. September 9, 2012. A Collection of Random Impressions. I just got back from the latest field trip, this time to Nepalgunj. Here are some assorted and unorganized thoughts with which I left. There is nothing so satisfying as answering the question, “What did you do this morning” with “I walked to India.”. Schools made out of wood and mud next to a river that often floods are not a good idea. Rebuilding the same school in the same spot out of the same materials after every flood is not a good solution. Peace Corps has impact!

This one included some visits to government schools that are teaching pre-vocational skills and some meetings with women’s savings and credit groups. The district we visited was Nuwakot, very close to Kathmandu and home to the historically exploited Tamang. Community.
