Monday, January 31, 2011. Boiled rice 3 cups. Raw rice 1 cup. Urad dhal 1 cup. Soak rice and fenugreek seeds together and urad dhal seperately for 4 hours. Grind urad dhal first in a wet grinder then grind the rice. When the rice is ground add the urad dhal flour also into the grinder. Add salt and grind for few more minutes so that it mixes well and allow it to ferment. Once the flour rises and ferments pour it into idli plates and steam it for 20 minutes. This dish is a peferct combination of Dal and vegetables.I thought it is more healthy to add more veggies to all the dishes so i decided to make the Dal with lot of vegetables with a dash of lime.It tasted quiet good. One cup of Moong dal. One chopped Green chilli. One small piece of Ginger. Two cups of chopped mixed vegetables. 1/4tsp of Turmeric Powder. 1/2tsp of Chilli powder. 1/2tsp of Garam Masala. Thursday, April 28, 2011. 1Soak tamarind in hot water for an hour and extract juice three times. 2Pressure cook the tur dal with little extra water. 3Roast the Channa dal,coriander seeds,red chillies in a drop of ghee and powder it along with pepper. 4Boil the tamarind water with cut tomatoes,turmeric powder and salt. 5Add the ground powder,dal and the extra water and boil for two more minutes. 6Season with mustard seeds in ghee and garnish with coriander and curry leaves. Little jaggery can also be added.
