It’s been lambing season again for the past 4 months or so. We have just a few ewes still expecting. This year was marked by more triplets, which can be a challenge sometimes. Lambing – Umpqua Valley Lamb

We’ve been lambing now for a couple of months and it’s both a challenge and a lot of fun. The challenge is keeping an eye on the ewes as they are lambing and keeping them healthy. The fun is seeing the healthy lambs playing in the fields after they’ve bonded with their moms and gotten a few days of milk in them. Twins are pretty common, triplets less common, and rarely we get quadruplets. We had two ewes deliver healthy quadruplets so far this season. Pretty amazing! New lambs playing war in the fields.

One gun will utilize up to 50 gallons per minute, while pod lines (pictured below) will use perhaps 25-30 gallons per minute to cover a much larger area of pasture.
