Poetry & Ideas: 12/14/07
http://poetryandideas.blogspot.com/2007_12_14_archive.html
Presentation of ideas in either poetry or prose, comments on the world we live in. Friday, December 14, 2007. Snow Storms I have Loved. I suppose the grown-ups had more practical things to think about in relation to the snow, but to me, as a child, it was magic. A couple of days before Christmas, I spent the evening wrapping things I hoped would make Christmas fun for the kids and for my mother, but I felt like a fish out of water. No more husband. No more home. What would happen to me? And to the kids?

Troy Parker Farr--Stories From My Life: January 2011

Troy Parker Farr- Stories From My Life. Looking back from the perspective of longevity for greater understanding. Tuesday, January 4, 2011. I remember being quite overwhelmed at the numbers of kids, most of whom knew each other, while I knew no one and no one knew me. Because of this, I got to know another new girl, Irene Seahy, because we were both sitting on the sidelines watching everyone else, not knowing how to get involved. How could anybody let a little girl wear those awful black stockings? You j...

Troy Parker Farr--Stories From My Life: December 2010

Troy Parker Farr- Stories From My Life. Looking back from the perspective of longevity for greater understanding. Thursday, December 30, 2010. We moved from Evanston, Illinois, out to Geneva in the late summer when I was seven. It was a strange move, because my mother was pregnant with my brother John, and had to stay behind in Evanston until the baby was born. Inside our new house there were two large fireplaces downstairs, one in the living room and the other in the dining room. How pleasant it was...

Poetry & Ideas: 10/23/07
http://poetryandideas.blogspot.com/2007_10_23_archive.html
Presentation of ideas in either poetry or prose, comments on the world we live in. Tuesday, October 23, 2007. Cheney and the Truth. Why should we believe Vice-President Cheney's opinions about Iran? Or about anything else? Isn't he the man I heard endlessly droning on about "weapons of mass destruction" in Iraq long after the rest of us knew there weren't any? His repetitive comments helped get us into the war in Iraq. Are we going to sit back and let his comments do the same thing in Iran? My first book...

Think About It: June 2012
http://thinkaboutitworld.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
I intend to write about things that interest me, either because they are negative and destructive to the well-being of the planet, or because they are positive and add something to the world. Friday, June 29, 2012. The Big Guy Doesn't Always Win. Years ago, for a brief time, I lived in Mesa, Arizona, I used to walk around the neighborhood, and when I did, always avoided the street where a huge mastiff lived and threatened all who passed by. For me, it was a good life lesson. Being huge and strong doe...

Think About It: Democracy Yes, Theocracy No
http://thinkaboutitworld.blogspot.com/2012/09/democracy-yes-theocracy-no.html
I intend to write about things that interest me, either because they are negative and destructive to the well-being of the planet, or because they are positive and add something to the world. Monday, September 3, 2012. Democracy Yes, Theocracy No. I don't want to live under a theocracy, no matter what religion it is based on. People came to this country in the beginning to escape religious persecution and to have the freedom to follow their own religious beliefs. However, at the moment, those on the Chri...

I intend to write about things that interest me, either because they are negative and destructive to the well-being of the planet, or because they are positive and add something to the world. Wednesday, December 29, 2010. Homeless Man on Marsh Street. Do you give people money even when they don't ask for it? I asked Bill. He said,. Yeah, I do, when I can tell they need it.". I wanted to give something to that man in front of CVS. He looked so miserable.". I thought about how easy it is, now, for people t...

I intend to write about things that interest me, either because they are negative and destructive to the well-being of the planet, or because they are positive and add something to the world. Sunday, April 17, 2011. Thoughts Beyond What I Know. Sometimes my thoughts are just made up of the "stuff" of my life rattling through my head, ranging from "wnat do I need from the grocery store? Something that has flummoxed me for years! It is like the thing that happens when I am painting and I "know" how to mix ...

I intend to write about things that interest me, either because they are negative and destructive to the well-being of the planet, or because they are positive and add something to the world. Friday, November 12, 2010. It’s what we’re all living for. It gives us a chance to see foreign lands. And show them their fate is in our hands. It’s what we’re all rooting for. It lets us know that we’re the strongest. In every war we stick around the longest. It’s what we spend money for. It brings us power galore.

I intend to write about things that interest me, either because they are negative and destructive to the well-being of the planet, or because they are positive and add something to the world. Monday, July 12, 2010. BEING LITTLE IN EVANSTON. Eventually, we all graduated to single runner skates with high lace-up shoes attached. It took a long time to be able to keep our ankles straight, and at first it felt as if we were skating on our ankles instead of on the blades. Still, it made winter great fu...Once,...
