Uncommon Road

Friday, August 15, 2014. We took a short vacation in Nairobi this week. It was nice to be able to do some of the fun, touristy things in Nairobi without having to rush to get groceries and hurry back home before dark. Here are some of the highlights from our time there. We fed, rode and ate (I know that is strange) ostriches at the Maasai Ostrich Resort. We witnessed this male ostrich doing his mating dance. We went horseback riding. This was a first for all of the kids and they were very excited. Pediat...

Uncommon Road: A Happy Ending

http://uncommonroad.blogspot.com/2014/05/a-happy-ending.html

Friday, May 30, 2014. Well-trained anesthetists available in the middle of the night to put a 3 year old to sleep. Folks like Jeff who make themselves routinely available to donate blood. Friends and colleagues like Rich who came to the hospital at 4am when he wasn’t on call to bring his Doppler machine and to give me some good counsel. Nurses who care all day and night for patients like Hiram. Hiram’s family who were able to procure some anti-rabies medicine from the national hospital. There was an erro...

Uncommon Road: August 2013

http://uncommonroad.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, August 22, 2013. Thank you for your prayers. Our trip went well and we are now home in Kijabe. The Nairobi airport's temporary international terminal was running very smoothly and we got through it without any trouble. The only setback was that 13 of our bags didn't make the connection in London, but they are now in Nairobi and should be delivered to us later today. Thank you for praying! Erik and Amanda Hansen. Sunday, August 18, 2013. Our Return to Kenya. Erik and Amanda Hansen. The countdown...

Wednesday, September 25, 2013. Music for My Soul Today. This morning I was up at the kids' school and heard singing from one of the rooms. I realized that it was the elementary school's weekly chapel time so I walked over to listen from outside the door. The sounds I heard ministered to me in such a powerful way as the children sang out praises that their God is faithful in all things. Just click the play button! Erik and Amanda Hansen. WHAT'S COOKING AT THE EDWARDS'. Saturday, August 1, 2015. We have a community garden plot and as luck would have it, we have okra running out of the kazoo. We like okra, but it is only July, and we don't know what to do with it all. I did what any Southern girl worth anything would do. Ok all I have this time is a weight 21.5 lbs on our bathroom scale, which is basically no different than last month, so I don't know how accurate. But you look so big to me! I told your daddy he was probably going to hear me saying, "He looks so big! For at least the next 17 years. Haha! Mostly 12 or 18 mo clothes just depends on who makes it! Crawling everywhere. ExPats from Houston, Texas now living in Budapest, Hungary. Tuesday, November 11, 2014. It has been 4 years without pumpkin patch pics, so I was determined that we would get those done this year! The weekends escaped and we were down to the wire.so we hit a local pumpkin patch with 30 minutes to spare before they closed. You can imagine how this went. :) Getting a decent pic of all 4 is going to be impossible for awhile, but we did the best we could! Links to this post. Thursday, November 6, 2014. He sta...

The Hungary Texans: October 2013

http://hungarytexans.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

ExPats from Houston, Texas now living in Budapest, Hungary. Wednesday, October 30, 2013. Up for the Challenge. We have enjoyed a beautiful fall in Budapest. Around here, we encourage fall to camp out for awhile, as we know that soon winter will be knocking on the door. In this perfect fall weather, Chelsea's class took a field trip to Challengeland, a ropes course place up in the hills of Budapest. My parents had just arrived, so we loved that they could go watch her take the challenge. Links to this post.

ExPats from Houston, Texas now living in Budapest, Hungary. Monday, September 30, 2013. Here we are at the end of September. As usual, I have several blog posts to catch up on. We will start here. Notice Chelsea's dress and boots remained the same as well. We have certainly gotten our use out of this dress! Cade is loving ...
