Lord Delton: Mr. Self Destruct
http://lord-delton.blogspot.com/2012/09/mr-self-destruct.html
Sunday, September 30, 2012. Yesterday began with about half of us in class, so we began with freeze tag. This sequence of freeze tag felt good as a unit (even though it only involved about half of us). Poor Scott made the mistake of embracing me in a scene - never do that immediately after I've ridden my bike to class. What did he desire? Thanks, grams.". Another fundamental thing that we were drilled on was connecting on stage without constant eye contact. In several of our scenes, whatever object w...

Lord Delton: All Shook Down
http://lord-delton.blogspot.com/2012/10/all-shook-down.html
Sunday, October 21, 2012. You ever have one of those times where you screw something up despite your best intentions? You know you're screwing up while you're screwing up, but the dominoes continue to fall. That, in a nutshell was my Level Three audition. The "Dear John" e-mail I received at 1:30 am was a mere formality: try again in two months. Anyhow, a look behind the curtain: introduce yourself, do a three person scene, and then do montage. It's over very quickly. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Lord Delton: April 2012
http://lord-delton.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 23, 2012. Audition Day in Pictures. Photographs from audition day. Courtesy of Shane. Laura and Detroit Angie: They are smirking because they've been making lewd comments about the male actors who auditioned. Power corrupts. Laura shows Ben the Facebook profiles of the male actors she is stalking. Ben knows this wrong, but he is too afraid to say anything. Mark He actually behaved himself during auditions. Really. I don't know why he looks so happy here. He probably doesn't know either.

Lord Delton: I Am A Man Who Will Fight For Your Honor
http://lord-delton.blogspot.com/2012/09/i-am-man-who-will-fight-for-your-honor.html
Saturday, September 8, 2012. I Am A Man Who Will Fight For Your Honor. The idea of using a line as the spark for a scene is a good one. Gellman told us that one of his friends would keep a list of "overheards" that he'd use to begin scenes. I'm going to steal that idea. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Stuff That's Real, and Shit. Lord Delton: Something I learned Today
http://lord-delton.blogspot.com/2012/10/something-i-learned-today.html
Saturday, October 13, 2012. Something I learned Today. We had a double header. One, two, three, four, five, six - count 'em - six hours of improv. Loved it. We began with some of our usual scene work exercises. As usual, it kind of went off the rails. We had ten people in class, so two lucky dogs got to perform two three person scenes. Yeah, I was all over that shit. There was so much great scene work that I'm not recalling at this late hour, but this was an immensely fun day of improv. Everybody in ...

Lord Delton: July 2012
http://lord-delton.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 29, 2012. Hit Me With Your Best Shot. We did extensive character work in Conservatory today. In practice, this consisted of doing scenes in accents. At least for this week. Last week, we also did some character work at the start of class, but accents weren't necessarily part of the package. We concluded with montage work and ended the class with a wedding scene involving the entire class. the groom was having an asthma attack and his best man had to keep administering his inhaler to him ...

Lord Delton: March 2012
http://lord-delton.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 25, 2012. For yesterday's Writing Five class, we had to write songs. Ideally, we had to write a song that could be performed by the entire six-person ensemble for our Writing Six show this summer. (Remember the running order for a typical show from a previous post? That's why we were assigned that.). One my favorite examples of such a song comes from the boys at The Chaser. My lateness prevented me from hearing Mark's or Brian's songs. I used my class time to write the beginning of an u...

Lord Delton: June 2012
http://lord-delton.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, June 30, 2012. Was all it took; everybody else followed suit, and that was the end of the game. Again, I didn't know any of my class mates, although a couple looked vaguely familiar from the corridors of the Second City's Piper's Alley complex. I'm pretty excited though, because they seem like a good collection of people. This Is Going to be Awkward: Opening Night. Tonight was opening night. Finally. I don't know where to begin this post, but last week is probably a good place to start. So, the...

Lord Delton: January 2012
http://lord-delton.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 8, 2012. When I was studying in Munich, a fellow American was obsessed with obscure. Greetings, Metallurgists. You are listening to Big B Braun's Metalkast. Tonight we break down Donnerschnee's latest release, Lard, Vials, and Daggers. As you know, I was totally annihilated with joy when they released Barbed-Wire Enema. Well, it has been 46 months, each more grueling and tortuous than the last, Kommandos. But no more! Lard, Vials, and Daggers. Well, it is. Take my word for it on a blo...

Lord Delton: May 2012
http://lord-delton.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, May 27, 2012. No, we didn't take Memorial Day Weekend off. We ended the day with Brian's sketch involving the last rites. (If he's Catholic he is SO excommunicated.) David treated us to his Bronx accent as the perverted padre. On the whole, it feels as if the show is coming together. Some of the actors are already getting off book, and we kicked around ideas for a poster as well. It's hard to believe that we are already halfway through our eight weeks of rehearsals. Sunday, May 20, 2012. At the e...
