Swimming in YA: May 2012

Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor! Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor. I make a rule not to use as many exclamation points as I did in the title. But rules are made to be broken, and this is certainly a game changer. I am completely in love with this cover. I can’t stop staring at it. So gorgeously haunting. The eyes are so beautiful, and I love the way Laini Taylor’s name is in red to match. I can still remember when I fell in love with Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Posted by Jill Kaplan.

E-Readers and Local Bookstores. So you can buy an E-reader from Barnes and Noble and still support local booksellers by buying ebooks from Indiebound. How great is that? So remember to support your local bookstores and support the author that bring you words to devour. Don't fall into Amazon's trap just because prices may be cheaper! In the end, it really hurts the authors. Remember that as you do your holiday shopping. Happy holidays, and don't forget to read! Posted by Jill Kaplan. His doesn't happen v...

http://swiminbooks.blogspot.com/2015/01/blue-lily-lily-blue.html
Blue Lily, Lily Blue. There is danger in dreaming. But there is even more danger in waking up. Blue Sargent has found things. For the first time in her life, she has friends she can trust, a group to which she can belong. The Raven Boys have taken her in as one of their own. Their problems have become hers, and her problems have become theirs. The trick with found things though, is how easily they can be lost. Rating: 4 of 5 stars (for now). PS Maggie Stiefvater is a goddess. Posted by Jill Kaplan.

The Selection by Kiera Cass. For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in the palace and compete for the heart of the gorgeous Prince Maxon. I was very intrigued by the book trailer, which is in part how I discovered this book. This book had all the elements of a good novel in my eyes, interesting plot, character development, and a good pace...

Don’t forget to vote! Posted by Jill Kaplan. Carnival of Souls by Melissa Marr. September 4th, 2012. I got a galley of Carnival. At ALA, and I was totally hyperventilating when I met Melissa Marr. She has been one of my favorite authors since Wicked Lovely. Is just as dark as the Wicked Lovely. Left something to be desired, but this book is vastly different. Even if you didn’t like Wicked Lovely. I urge you to give this a try. Carnival of Souls. Is not a book to overlook! Posted by Jill Kaplan. But Sophi...

Swimming in YA: RETURN OF THE JILL
http://swiminbooks.blogspot.com/2014/06/return-of-jill.html
RETURN OF THE JILL. In regards to the title, I really really like Lord of the Rings. More than ever, though, I miss blogging. Today, while walking around Barnes and Noble, I realized I had no idea what new books to try- because I had been out of the book community for so long. It was necessary, but so is my return. In the next couple weeks I plan to review:. Let's Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson (The Bloggess). The Dream Thieves by Maggie Steifvater. Posted by Jill Kaplan. RETURN OF THE JILL.

News, Updates and Spell Bound Review. I thought I'd check in quickly to say hello and also give some fun news. And also do a quick review. Julie Kagawa has a fifth Iron Fey novel coming out this fall! It is currently untitled and the release date has yet to be set, but on August 28th, you can get a sneak peek. Her two e-novellas, Winter's Passage. Along with a new one entitled Iron's Prophecy. I saw The Hunger Games. At midnight of course! I have won and soon will have an ARC of Shine. I'll admit it, I'm...
