continental drift: April 2011
http://angela-in-sf.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 24, 2011. For some reason, however, today I decided to go to the brick-and-mortar stores at the Stanford Mall to browse around. Malls are modern altars to capitalism and consumerism and all the other -isms that we take so seriously in the New World. People congregate in malls the way they once did in churches. Imagine my surprise, then when I arrived at the mall, and it was closed. On a side note, Jesus, why don't you want me to go shopping? Friday, April 22, 2011. Only in California would ...

continental drift: i dream of germans
http://angela-in-sf.blogspot.com/2011/11/i-dream-of-germans.html
Friday, November 4, 2011. I dream of germans. I think it's rather funny that after moving away from Switzerland over three years ago, I still had this dream last night that reveals my subconscious impression of the Germanic approach to laws and law enforcement. In the mean time, Boyfriend wandered off and started shopping for shoes. Boyfriend continued shopping for shoes. (What does this say about what my subconscious thinks about Boyfriend? Giving Boyfriend a hard time about what your subconscious made ...

continental drift: death taxes and cable
http://angela-in-sf.blogspot.com/2012/10/death-taxes-and-cable.html
Thursday, October 11, 2012. Death taxes and cable. Death will come eventually, and we all have to come to terms with that. I actually don't really mind paying taxes. I think of it as kind of like paying for someone else to deal with a lot of problems I wouldn't want to deal with or know how to deal with. Life has been kind, and it seems fair. continental drift: September 2011
http://angela-in-sf.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 13, 2011. It has probably been over 20 years since the last time I was in L.A., and it was not the place I remembered, probably due in large part to the fact that my earlier visits were with family, and revolved around hanging out at my uncle's house and going on long road trips in the minivan to various national parks. That is not what L.A. is like. At all. Which can be problematic when you're trying to check a bag or get through security. Thursday, September 1, 2011. An American frie...

continental drift: ribbit
http://angela-in-sf.blogspot.com/2012/09/ribbit.html
Sunday, September 23, 2012. Having grown up eating my mom's Chinese cooking, I'm accustomed to pretty "normal" dishes having misleading names. Pockmarked woman tofu, little dragon buns, and lion's heads contain nothing more exotic than pork. Dishes with ingredients that are more of an acquired taste are often given very straightforward names, like stinky tofu or bitter melon. Not anything to do with frogs, right? continental drift: buy the way
http://angela-in-sf.blogspot.com/2011/09/buy-way.html
Thursday, September 1, 2011. One of the things I love doing when visiting foreign countries is to go to the local mall and the local grocery store to see what odd products they have to offer their customers. I am quite sure that foreign visitors to the U.S. enjoy doing the same thing. Double Stuf Oreos weren't fattening enough, so they now make Triple Double Oreos, which have three. Layers of Double Stuf creme. Old Spice comes in "Matterhorn" and "Swagger.". How can you possibly choose? 1: my original do...

continental drift: August 2013
http://angela-in-sf.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 19, 2013. It just rained for five minutes, and I was utterly shocked, because it's not supposed to rain until October at the earliest. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). continental drift: June 2011
http://angela-in-sf.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 21, 2011. Oh, Silicon Valley, you have an endless supply of interesting (read: weird) people. Wednesday, June 8, 2011. OK, disclaimers aside, one of the funniest moments from our trip to Zurich happened when we went out to dinner with a group of people, and at the end, a few of them were trying to open little individual bottles of kirsch. The bottles proved to be very difficult to open, and the guys were pulling and pulling at the corks, trying to get them out. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

My Unemployment: April 2009
http://unemploymentactivities.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Life is tough. This is how I'm keeping it fun. Wednesday, April 29, 2009. When can you finally consider yourself to be a New Yorker? Is it when you sign up for that first Duane Reade card? Is it when a tourist singles you out of a crowd to ask for directions? How about when it takes 6 weeks to book an appointment with a new doctor? Stroll by The Ed Sullivan theater or 30 Rock and a Page could offer you free tickets to a late night talk show. Beats waiting months for a ticket reserved by calling the a...
