Under our own olive tree. Changes to this blog. For the past couple of months, this blog morphed into a bit of a mommy blog with loads and loads of portraits of my kids. Under our own olive tree: October 2013

http://underourownolivetree.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

Under our own olive tree. Citizen Cafe in Blairgowrie. Over the weekend, we packed the kids into the car for a coffee break at the Citizen Café in Blairgowrie. It was all the bicycles parked outside the café while driving down Conrad road that first drew my attention. With the café so close to Delta Park and the Braamfontein Spruit, it seems that many cyclists are in need of a caffeine fix when they get to that part of the route! Or Butter in Berario. Under our own olive tree. My family, like any family I suppose, is unique in its habits, traditions, language and quirks. The very special brand of craziness that makes my ‘tribe’ what it is did not come overnight, oh no - it took years of lovingly and sometimes not-so lovingly living together to develop. And here’s a compliment for Justine, Callie (my siblings' other halves) and my husband: it takes a bit of courage to marry into it. When in Paarl . The Goatshed at Fairview. Monday, October 31, 2011. The 3D Paper Stars I made for the South African Doll and Toy Club for their Christmas / year end function. It took 40 A4 pages, cut into 240 square blocks, then cut into 2400 strips. 10 strips glued and shaped together to form one piece. 6 pieces glued and shaped together to form one star. In total 40 stars. This is easy to make, but the most time consuming part in cutting the paper, it took me about 6 hours just to cut the paper and strips. Monday, October 31, 2011. Some of the...

Friday, July 20, 2012. Lets play Doll #2. I've been asked to make Doll arms (up to the elbow) out of paper clay. Have never done this before, but will give it a try. So I have started. To plan and then decided that I will use a mould for this, reason, I wanted to see how the Paper clay will work in a mould and how will the final product come out. I have lined the mould with the clay, and once dried, "glued" the two half's together. I'm quite please with the outcome of this. The paper clay doll arms.

http://ardopapercreations.blogspot.com/2012/08/branded.html

Wednesday, August 22, 2012. My latest order that I had to do were some Paper Quilling goodies for Ecko Unltd South Africa based in Durban. This was a challenge for me as I tried out some new Quilling techniques that I have never tried before. After some researched on the brand logo, I have decided to make use of some of the Ecko tattoo art as inspiration. This is the Tattoo art from Ecko Unltd. The fist one (This one if my favourite) in a black and white boxed frame. Black and white Ecko Rino.

LOTR Talk

Thursday, July 21, 2011. The Cast of Middle Earth. Part of it that is. First full look of all the dwarves, I have been curious about how these guys were going to look. The only picture I had in my mind was of Gimli and am surprised and pleased at how unique each dwarf is. My only familiarity with Martin Freeman is his role of John Watson on BBC's Sherlock. I thought he did very well with the role, especially considering how many times it has been done. I look forward to his portrayal of Bilbo. These are ...
