I'm worried about my amazon tank. Not only is it *STILL* frightening acidic (at best 6.3, but the indicator only goes down as low as 6.2) but the black pom-pom stuff is growing faster then ever. More details on the pH first - I THOUGHT I had the problem licked when I discovered the water heater was leaking and the tank was live. I discovered this by putting my hand in the tank to recover a dying fish and got an electric shock. And thus we get to the algae. Attached to objects, the glass, and especially t...

Sailing - Christopher Cross. Favorite, most amazing plants. I have decided that crypts are the coolest aquatic plants ever! Crypts come in so many varieties with so many different leaf shapes and colors, and best of all, I havn't had any luck killing them yet! Well, the planting day finally came, and I was amazed when I took the crypts out of the bucket to see that most of them had started developing offshoots with new little plantlets forming, and new leaves sprouting from the rosette already!
