Under the Lychee Tree. Monday, August 18, 2008. Starfruit and Fabric Bags. The mangoes are almost finished though I did catch a family of wild pigs this afternoon munching on some for a late lunch. . The starfruit are ripe, but I did find time this weekend to sew some fabric bags and practiced my long lost zipper application techniques.   . 160; This one is very easy to sew. 160;The box bag was a challenge but well worth it.  The tutorial for this bag is at Drago Knit Fly. Under the Lychee Tree: September 2008

http://underthelychee.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Under the Lychee Tree. Sunday, September 14, 2008. Walk in the Woods. This Sunday started out with an early walk in the woods below my house.  The morning sun was filtering through the Norfolk pines. Down the path the bees were feasting on the sap of a tree. . It's amazing to see where honey comes from.  The shell ginger in the meadow was blooming.  . This was a funny coincidence because I had just finished a charity quilt using Kauaiana shell ginger fabric from the 80's in a quilt. . Walk in the Woods.

Under the Lychee Tree. Thursday, March 27, 2008. Dragon Fly Wedding Quilt. I finished the Michelle's wedding quilt I'm so happy I got it done before the wedding.  I combined two patterns, the Four Patch Harmony set on point from Fat Quarter Frenzy and the dragon fly block from the Aketombo quilt by Maria Tamaoka. . Now that the quilt is done I can enjoy spring and take a ride on my bike with my dog! Under the Lychee Tree. Sunday, March 23, 2008. Happy Easter from the Farm. Under the Lychee Tree. 160;I li...

Under the Lychee Tree. Thursday, May 29, 2008. Over the Pass and Putting on the Ritz. It is over the pass day for a five hour drive to Spokane.  The best part of the journey is a lunch stop at the Valley Cafe. In Ellensberg.  With its 1930 original decor you want to hum "Putting on the Ritz" as you order your food. 160;Chicken salad with crunchy nuts and fresh greens was just what we needed for a road trip lunch break.  The tea is even pretty as you can see. Can I rave anymore about this restaurant?

Dorky Homemade Quilts: Christmas Shopping on Kauai

http://lisaboyer.blogspot.com/2009/12/christmas-shopping-on-kauai.html

Friday, December 4, 2009. Christmas Shopping on Kauai. I just love visiting your blogs and seeing all the Christmas decorations where you live! So I thought you might like to see some from my corner of the world. I took these pictures when Clayton and I did a little Christmas shopping last week. Enjoy! Ukuleles, gourds, and other hula implements decorate the above tree. Can you see them? Below, Hawaiian quilt motifs are embedded in the garlands. Not really a Winter Wonderland.but at least it's warm.

Dorky Homemade Quilts: June 2009

http://lisaboyer.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, June 2, 2009. May was spectacularly busy for my family and I. I hope June eases up a bit! I haven't had much time for crafting, but I did want to pop in and say hello. I finished a scarf:. This is the "Spring Ripple Scarf," and it's crocheted with Noro Sock Yarn. Sure is colorful, eh? Springy. I'm not exactly sure if I'll ever wear it.actually.with those colors, I think it would wear me. But working on it was fun and it looks pretty hanging in my closet. Was that she wanted to learn how to knit.

Tuesday, April 28, 2009. I think I have Spring Fever. Does anyone know what the symptoms are? I'm busy, but I just feel so.hmmm.unfocused. I'm not doing anything I SHOULD be doing.I just feel like wandering around, doing a little bit of everything. But I don't feel like tackling a big project right now! I did finish a useful pair of socks:. I'm on a glute...

Dorky Homemade Quilts: Lightning Storm on its Way!

http://lisaboyer.blogspot.com/2009/11/lightning-storm-on-its-way.html

Thursday, November 12, 2009. Lightning Storm on its Way! It's 9:52 on Thursday night and I'm just about to turn off my computer and enjoy our first lightning and thunderstorm of the season. See those little yellow and red dots between Kauai (second island on the left) and Oahu? On the radar loop, they're coming this way, bringing lots of light and noise. Oh, how I LOVE thunder and lightning! So much drama.so much power! November 12, 2009 at 10:35 PM. November 13, 2009 at 1:04 AM. Thanks for the update, m...

Dorky Homemade Quilts: A Nine Patch Mystery

http://lisaboyer.blogspot.com/2009/11/nine-patch-mystery.html

Thursday, November 19, 2009. A Nine Patch Mystery. I wish I'd taken more pictures of this little quilt before I donated it. I didn't like it very much at the time, but now that it's gone, I'm liking it much better! I was inspired by a book I saw at Border's. A full-sized quilt that looked very much like this one was on the cover. I thought about the book for a couple of days, went back to purchase it, but it was gone. I didn't even get the author's name or the name of the book! I think, all in all, vacat...

Monday, August 24, 2009. The ones you've been staring at on my neglected blog for over a month? At long last, I bring you.closure. Or should I say "clothes"-ure? The "Better than Laundry" quilt is done. Here it is on my bed:. I lost track of how many shirts, dresses and skirts I used to make this quilt. I even used a pair of men's pajamas! I had a ball. I had fun with the quilting. Sunbursts, spirals, leaves, flames, feathers.yikes. Nope I guess my next few quilts will have to stay plucked for now. I'm f...

Dorky Homemade Quilts: My FAVORITE Hawaiian Song EVER

http://lisaboyer.blogspot.com/2009/11/my-favorite-hawaiian-song-ever.html

Monday, November 23, 2009. My FAVORITE Hawaiian Song EVER. I've been meaning to post this for a while now- my favorite Hawaiian song EVER. Truth be told, I'm not a huge fan of Hawaiian music, but this song gives me goosebumps every time. The song was written by a woman and the words have something to do with the beauty of ocean life. I was very happy to find an accompanying video on You Tube! I think the song and the video are very beautiful. Enjoy! November 23, 2009 at 6:46 PM. My husband and I were mar...

Dorky Homemade Quilts: Goodbye Ol' Girl

http://lisaboyer.blogspot.com/2009/11/goodbye-ol-girl.html

Friday, November 20, 2009. This is not good. These are computer guts. Although I certainly marvel at the complexity of their anatomy and appreciate all they do, I can't say that I'm ever happy to see them. After several grueling hours, I did finish this nearly impossible task. And I do have to say that to my credit, mine looked a whole lot better inside than when I took it apart! So why this topic today? WellI couldn't stand to talk about it before now, but my beloved computer's guts were a part of my po...

Musings on markets, investing and risk management with a quantitative twist. Ask me a question. Why is no one digging into why the bailout is so necessary right now? The problems are not new, what exactly is new? And if they arent, what is the size of the gap between true value of assets and deposits? Is it still going to be that $17B figure? I would venture that gap is much much much bigger and just like in the Lehman crisis, in a uncertain, unresolved crisis, get much worse by the day. Rdquo;. WSJ ...
