Under the Southern Pines

Under the Southern Pines. Random non-sequiturs and observations of a self proclaimed procrastinator and professional slacker. Saturday, September 6, 2008. Passing Notes is Passe. Perhaps the most frustrating of all the texting going on during the school day is the PARENTS who feel it necessary to text their students during class. How can students be held to a standard that their mom refuses to support? How difficult is it to just wait and talk to your student at a later time? S Christine Brown Warnken.

Under the Southern Pines: May 2008

Under the Southern Pines. Random non-sequiturs and observations of a self proclaimed procrastinator and professional slacker. Thursday, May 29, 2008. It wasn't that I didn't like kissing or holding hands. It wasn't even that I didn't like the particular boy, or the idea of having a boyfriend. The issue was, I never really felt like I was "in love" with any of them. I loved dating, and having fun. I thought boys were cute and funny, and enjoyed spending time with them. But that was all. Under the Southern Pines. Random non-sequiturs and observations of a self proclaimed procrastinator and professional slacker. Saturday, August 9, 2008. All my promises of writing more when we got settled at camp were for naught! Now we are jumping back into our "real world" jobs. I'm back to school as of Monday, and the girls go back Tuesday. Our exchange student from the year before last is visiting us this week as well, so it's a fast paced return to reality. Thank you so much to those of y...I am comp...

I'll add more as the summer progresses, but for now. that's all, folks! S Christine Brown Warnken. Links to this post. Monday, June 16, 2008. We're here at Camp Pinnacle in the beautiful Helderberg. We were then shown a tiny cabin with taller weeds, and more trash and rusted out appliances on the front lawn than a Jeff Foxworthy. Instead, we rolled up our...

Sourdough from a bitter man: December 2010

http://sourdoughbitterman.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Sourdough from a bitter man. Musings on scholarship, bread and the Christian life. Sunday, December 12, 2010. Advent: What, Why and How? I had the opportunity to lead the Sunday School lesson today. We have just finished studying Rick Warren's very good book on "The Purpose of Christmas" and I thought it would helpful to review a bit of the background of Advent. Perhaps these thoughts will be useful to you as well. But what will His coming look like? We know that the Israelites were wrong to look for the...

Sourdough from a bitter man. Musings on scholarship, bread and the Christian life. Wednesday, March 10, 2010. Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. I've been giving a lot of thought lately to the Genesis 3 narrative, and finding myself in it. Do you recall what the forbidden fruit is? The Fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. eat of it and you will surely die. Or will you? So tempts the slippery serpent. Sourdough from a bitter man. Musings on scholarship, bread and the Christian life. Wednesday, March 9, 2011. The Gospels through Lent: Matthew 1 and 2; Familiar names. How many times have I started to attempt to read through the Bible, thrilled by the Creation narrative and sobered by the fall, only to get mired in the begats? Well, as I started Matthew 1 this morning, what do I face? Yes, the part that usually gets skipped in the Christmas narratives. Begats. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Sourdough from a bitter man. Musings on scholarship, bread and the Christian life. Friday, June 11, 2010. Some Cape Cod vacation tips: Falmouth edition. Here are a few things we learned about Falmouth this week:. There is a farmers market from May-October on Thursdays downtown. In May-June, the selection is limited, consistent with the New England growing season, but there are fresh breads, seafoods and coffee available. It sure looks like greater variety would be evident later in the summer.

Sourdough from a bitter man. Musings on scholarship, bread and the Christian life. Wednesday, February 17, 2010. Dear School Board Representative,. First, let me say that I love the cake auction and events like it. They involve the creativity of the students and their parents and teach the students very useful lessons about how markets and prices work. I wish we could do things like this more often without wearing out the idea, but it's a great success for our school. Links to this post.

Sourdough from a bitter man. Musings on scholarship, bread and the Christian life. Saturday, May 2, 2009. The most exciting moment was the fastest trip around the bases on a homer I have ever seen. I certainly would rather have a clear announcement of a pitching change (which we did not have) than a stupid "kiss-cam" or follow the baby in the bucket game. I guess if we sat in the upper decks, we'd have had a nice view of the Capitol and Washington Monument, but from where we were, nothing special.

Under the Southern Cross. Teaching in a remote village in Tanzania. You have been warned. We met this woman when we stopped in a small town in Zanzibar. The Zanzibari. Having their picture taken, but we had been playing with her little son, Osman. She graciously allowed me to snap her picture. I wish I could remember her name. The son of the woman in green. god-shaped hole

January 10, 2016. I’ve tried to turn away from God so many times. I’ve tried everything else. I’ve spent and chased and invested and used. In the end: Where else could I go? Nothing else fulfills me when I find it; nothing else forgives me when I fail it. No one takes me back like He does. This is so close to where I currently am. I wish it weren’t so confusing and didn’t rattle all the beliefs and disbeliefs and defenses that I’ve built up over the years. From J.S. Park. Don’t go back to sleep. I am thi...

Why I Love Nebraska Women. In 2007, Nebraska ranked 49. Thursday, 22 January 2015. So far I have come up with 3 options all with a waiting period of at least 2 years. I wont bore with my options, I will tell you that they all involve the struggle of getting into medicine at a South African university. On another note the incompetence of South African universities communicating abilities and selection bias is for another day. Currently my plan is to wait it out, I know what you thinking, isn't that just remaining in neutral anyway? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
