Gal Costa - Gal.

Wednesday, August 15, 2012. Shuggie Otis - Inspiration Information. Shuggie Otis is one of those thoroughbred musicians- being the son of early R&B pillar Johnny Otis provided a host of life-long in-person musical inspirations and paved the way for a Mozart-like career beginning for the 15 year-old Otis when he co-billed on Al Kooper's Kooper Session. By his most "recent" full length, 1974's Inspiration Information. Otis had undoubtedly found his own voice, if not much of a commercial niche for himself.

Elliot Knapp: January 2013

Friday, January 25, 2013. John Fahey - City of Refuge. In investigating Fahey's late period, I'm sympathetic with the fact that he felt dead-ended stylistically and was struggling to move beyond his signature American Primitive tropes into something a bit more.different and new. The issue seems to be just what. Precisely, that new direction is, and Fahey's frustration is evident in the music. In spite of its recording date, City of Refuge. Most resembles 60's Fahey records like Volume 6: Days Have Gone By.
