Pavement and Velodromes: Newflash!
http://chainandpedals.blogspot.com/2009/09/newflash.html
My first race was the Apple Festival Citizens' Race in New Milford, PA, in Fall of 2004. I had my first USCF race in Summer of 2005, and am now racing on the road and track. I'll try to post timely updates here about my training and racing. Wednesday, September 16, 2009. Tonight I got on my bike while it was raining out. It had just started to drizzle as I was driving home from work. But I went and I smiled and I did my intervals with gusto. In my head: Points race and Madison. Here I come, L.A.

Off the Back Cycling: April 2008
http://offthebackcycling.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Off the Back Cycling. My perspective from the other end of the peloton. Thursday, April 24, 2008. At the end of October I introduced a new family member. She came to us as a 17.5lb black fur ball with the sweetest little tri-colored face. Her official name is Werlwind’s Picture Perfect. How do “they” come up with those names? Links to this post. Wednesday, April 16, 2008. HUGE sigh of relief! Speaking of Saturday, Walla Walla! Are wrong, wrong, wrong! Links to this post. Tuesday, April 15, 2008. With the...

Off the Back Cycling: Back in the Saddle
http://offthebackcycling.blogspot.com/2010/02/back-in-saddle.html
Off the Back Cycling. My perspective from the other end of the peloton. Sunday, February 28, 2010. Back in the Saddle. What a difference a day on the bike with teammates and does for my outlook. We had our annual Sequim Race clinic this weekend and I was not sure I should even go for several reasons. 1 I just haven't taken time away from my family in a over a year. 2 Em had a soccer game with her new Rx goggles and I was excited to see her play. 3 I wasn't sure I could even keep up with anyone and. Today...

Off the Back Cycling: August 2008
http://offthebackcycling.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Off the Back Cycling. My perspective from the other end of the peloton. Monday, August 11, 2008. ER not as seen on TV. Saturday turned out to be a pretty sucky. Day all in all. I thought I was doing better even over at friends for dinner on Friday night but Saturday rolled in as an ugly ugly morning. In a fog that I couldn't. Quite explain then sick nothing to come up but it still was. On call and he talked. Be a virus had I been around any kids? Even worse pain nausea and couldn't keep. Arrest, no joke ...

Off the Back Cycling: idle hands...
http://offthebackcycling.blogspot.com/2009/08/idle-hands.html
Off the Back Cycling. My perspective from the other end of the peloton. Thursday, August 27, 2009. Work is very slow today, I am caught up on all the pressing matters and no one seems to need to collect flow data. So, I did my other jobs; caught up on kid calendars, paid for soccer team backpacks sent out odds and ends emails pretty much anything I can do while in my lab I have done. So now what? Hmm I guess I should take a break and go to the gym that will give me something to do. Pink bike and flowers.

Off the Back Cycling: May 2008
http://offthebackcycling.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Off the Back Cycling. My perspective from the other end of the peloton. Thursday, May 22, 2008. Then I turned North and headed ever so slightly uphill. I slowed and my legs began to burn a little and my back began to ache. I shifted down, a guy with very hairy legs, in his aero. Bars, loaded down with panniers. Passed me. Maybe I am not ready to race or maybe I can race. There are tail winds, only down hills and I have the perfect wheel to tuck behind. But, where then would the challenge come from? Unfor...
