One of the themes that Ray Ozzie teed up in the opening keynote, was the notion of thinking about SaaS (Software as a Service) as Software AND a Service. This concept was later expanded on on one of the breakouts. There are many examples of how this capability can be helpful. If we think of people in the field that need to do work using local copies of databases for example, without this capability they are unproductive when detached from the net.

Monday, April 30, 2007. AJAX Enabled Web Sites with Orca. I'm no developer, but I was intrigued by the presentation of Omar Khan of Microsoft. What impressed me was how well Omar handled the amount of content in the amazingly short amount of time available. It seems as if the programming interface is to the point where learning application development should be a lot easier moving forward. at least from the perspective of a non-developer.
