Unravelling reading

Thursday, 29 May 2014. Insights from the Dyslexia Debate. Elliott, J.G. and Grigorenko, E.L (2014) The Dyslexia Debate. Cambridge, Cambridge University Press. I have just finished reading this book, which, it is fair to say, has caused and possibly courted some controversy in the media as well as in academic circles and among practitioners. Even before it was published, there were two excellent commentaries on it by academics who had clearly obtained advance copies:. They have some really useful insights...

Unravelling reading: November 2011

http://www.unravellingreading.org.uk/2011_11_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 9 November 2011. Thoughts from the Skills Conference. Many thanks to everyone who came to my workshops at the Skills Conference in Nottingham on 8/11/11. See: http:/ wordpress.bksb.co.uk/SkillsConference/index.php/category/the-skills-conference-2011/. There were lots of very stimulating conversations and my ideas seemed to be well received. This gives me inspiration to continue on the quest to write that book and get my recommendations more widely disseminated. Here are some initial thoughts:.

http://www.unravellingreading.org.uk/2012_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, 31 May 2012. Update from Dr Partridge. So sorry to have been silent on this blog for such a long time. I can't use the excuse that I have been unaccountably busy - it doesn't take that long to post an idea. Maybe I have been waiting for closure on my Doctorate in Education, and it has finally come. I have been awarded the degree! However, I shall not be flaunting the title (much). Posted by Sue Partridge. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Who haven't yet gained or consolidated the right skills.

Monday, 19 November 2012. A review of WIAT. I bought the WIAT-II UK- T. Assessment tool in my role as a n assessor of adults with dyslexia. There had. Been a ruling that Exam Boards preferred having a standardised score for reading speed when granting Exam Access Arrangements.  I didnt read the specification quite closely enough and actually the no rms only go up to age 16.11 for a British test sample. But it is still useful to have US normative information for guidance. So, some reflections: . What was ...

Unravelling reading: Welcome to Unravelling Reading

http://www.unravellingreading.org.uk/2010/01/welcome-to-unravelling-reading.html

Friday, 1 January 2010. Welcome to Unravelling Reading. Do you remember the book "Unscrambling Spelling" by Cynthia Klein and Robin Millar (1990)? I always wanted to write the sister volume on reading, to help teachers working with adults have an angle on suitable reading strategies. This website is designed to be a forum for me to disseminate some of my ideas and for other people to contribute to a growing resource of ideas and resources. Watch this space! Thursday, May 17, 2012. She's witty, she's charming, interesting and outgoing,. Energetic, enthusiastic, she's a woman so demure,. She's fun to be around, would never let you fall,. Intellectual when she talks, she knows them' all,. She's her Daddy's princess and her Mama's doll,. Her brother's best buddy, and Atom's pal. So caring and enduring, and she's so angelical,. Bestie to her friends, so many can't name them' all,. Though I have known her for less than a year now,. But time can't say it all,.

Fangirl. insane. beware. Am a little twisted, and a lot disturbing, but once you look past the insaneness, i'm quite interesting. This is a mostly a place for me to wax horrible poetry and post cryptic rants that no one will understand but of late it has evolved into yet another angsty diary. but the last time i checked, that's what blogs are for. Also, lots of typos since i'm normally high (on life, not crack! Tipsy or depressed when i write my posts. seriously. The boy in header:. Follow me on Twitter.
