JUMP FALL FLY – THE BOOK. Snippets from our Book. The First Step Toward Unschooling: Unschooling the Parents. July 28, 2015. Just let me live my life’ were the words that came out of my sons mouth yesterday as I tried to teach him about following a recipe. He was furious. I know these things! And then I said, Oh I, yes let’s!

Unschooling Me: April 2015
http://unschoolingme.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Nothing particularly profound today. Some images of some of our favorite nearby places, those we go to frequently. Places where we relax and enjoy time together. A celebration of the beauty in the world. This is where my kids have grown up. One of the people who owned our house and land before us was a food scientist. He was gifted several grapevines, of some wine grapes (I don't recall the variety). Although we don't use them to make wine, they are still beautiful. From here, th...
Unschooling Me: The Getting Rid of Stuff Challenge
http://unschoolingme.blogspot.com/2015/04/the-getting-rid-of-stuff-challenge.html
Saturday, April 11, 2015. The Getting Rid of Stuff Challenge. As unschoolers, we have a wide range of interests. These interests have led us to both a large collection of "resources" and a re-ordering of priorities. That's a nice way of saying we have a lot of stuff in our house, and typically, would rather do pretty much anything other than cleaning. :-). It's hard to let go of stuff that might be useful, or come in handy, or be Just The Thing that someone needs for a project down the road. I stuck with...
Unschooling Me: Not Knowing
http://unschoolingme.blogspot.com/2015/04/not-knowing.html
Monday, April 13, 2015. Living in the "information age" suits me just fine. I grew up loving to read encyclopedias, and for years, had a fairly extensive collection of dictionaries. I love trivia games and quizzes. I enjoy thinking about things and figuring them out. Add the internet to that, and what a motherlode! Lately, I have begun to explore the joys of NOT knowing. I came to this from two different directions at the same time. Too much "thinking about" and not enough "doing.". He would ask my frien...
Unschooling Me: In Case of Emergency
http://unschoolingme.blogspot.com/2015/04/in-case-of-emergency.html
Friday, April 3, 2015. In Case of Emergency. Kids are pretty capable. More than many people think. I saw a poster today about kids and emergency preparedness, so when I got home, I looked it up online, and the website is pretty good. Some people who read what I write online already know that this is something important to me. When I was a kid, around 8 years old, the house behind ours burned. It had just been built, and no one lived there yet. Before that night, I had been deathly afraid of fire. Thankfu...
Unschooling Me: March 2015
http://unschoolingme.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 31, 2015. My life, these days, is a busy one. I have two paid jobs, and a full time volunteer job. I spend a fair amount of time training for all three. I have several passionate interests. AND there are my kids, of course. My kids are adults now. This means, for the most part, on days when things are going well and we aren't having some sort of crisis, that they don't need nearly as much direct attention as they did when they were young. It was not always so. And then it hit me. Duh.

Unschooling Me: A Day in the Life, or, Best Laid Plans
http://unschoolingme.blogspot.com/2015/04/a-day-in-life-or-best-laid-plans.html
Thursday, April 2, 2015. A Day in the Life, or, Best Laid Plans. I don't think I have ever written up a "day in the life" thing. Today was the first warm day in approximately forever. We decided to make the most of it. Yesterday, someone I know on facebook posted wonderful pictures of his day, photographing flocks of snow geese at the other end of the lake. Turns out, all we accomplished was discovering that the problem is apparently stranger than we thought. We have a temporary workaround that is mi...

For many people, unschooling doesn’t come naturally. This is because most of us were raised in ways that are in direct opposition to the principles of unschooling. Starting in infancy, we absorb beliefs like my wants and needs are wrong, I don’t know what’s best for me, and people cannot be trusted. Online, in book stores and at conferences, t...

Unschooling the Big Blue Marble. Wednesday, 11 November 2015. Last night we went back to the same store and guess who was there? When we got in line Mark and I both screamed FUNDAS!
