http://pinchmi.blogspot.com/2010/06/major-procrastination.html
Tuesday, June 15, 2010. Don't know what's wrong with me today but I've been procrastinating my butt off (or make that on - on this damn desk chair, that is). I'm just tired, I guess, as I had a migraine yesterday and it took two shots of my nasty meds to get rid of it. Anyway, before I finally get off my duff and go work on some sorting, I thought I'd upload a couple of pix. Of our potential new home that the embassy in Madrid may be renting for us but have not signed any lease yet. Isn't it fab? Wish yo...

Wednesday, October 14, 2009. Attack of the toads and other adventures. Fall can be strange. Just yesterday evening I asked myself, "Was that Thanksgiving? Simply because I was walking jacketless with the G (also jacketless as she is losing her summer coat) through the cemetery and having to seriously watch my step as G dashed about in the dark, excited by the hoards of toads hopping happily wild in the mild breeze. Friday, December 11, 2009. To be eco-fair, I just wasn't in the mood. So yesterday I dragged my butt to the Tokyo Eco-products 2009. Expo Some colleagues had gotten there an hour before me and were heading to lunch when I arrived, unhungry. So off I strolled on my ownsome with the remnants of a migraine making the crowds and very bright lights difficult to endure. I did end up mini-interviewing a couple of English-speaking women exhibitors and might follow up those stories. One is a small biz that gr...

Life with minimal heat: an experiment in adaptation. Archive for the ‘Uncategorized’ Category. Laquo; Older Entries. January 24, 2016. Many people (well, like seven) ask me, “Why aren’t you posting to Cold House anymore? Is it because you died of exposure? But you might be curious– how HAS that central heating thing affected the Cold House lifestyle? So what are the numbers? Not that there haven’t been a few tussles! Stay warm, wherever you are! October 27, 2015. Why me, God? I ask this myself, but so fa...

Life with minimal heat: an experiment in adaptation. This is about a guy (and a girl he sneakily recruited) who have lived through the past seven Maine winters, in two different average older houses, using what most people would consider “rather little heat”. What does that mean? Well, last winter the “warm” area of our house averaged 54.6. F (the previous winters averaged 54.7º, 52.3º, 52. And about 15% of what an average oil-burning Maine household spends each winter. For the winters of ’11, R...

Perfectcupcakes: Celebrating simple traditions - Candlemas Day
http://perfectcupcakes.blogspot.com/2009/02/celebrating-simple-candlemas-day.html
Monday, 2 February 2009. Celebrating simple traditions - Candlemas Day. Looking out at the frosts today and predicted snow its hard to think that Winter will soon be over yet in pre-Christian times, Feb 2 was a day of celebration known as the "Festival of Lights." Coming midway between the winter solstice and the spring equinox, it heralded the coming of spring. So tonight we will fill the house with candles and celebrate Candlemas! Ill be writing a bit more about your area in the next few weeks - I have...
