I've wished that I could fix them up with the spackle of “I've got it all together” or “I don’t need anybody but myself.” After all, it’s a lot easier to function in the world without your brokenness on display for everyone to see. It’s one of the few places that truly puts things into perspective for me. It makes clouds look close enough to touch and transforms looming cities into specs in the distance. Monday, July 7, 2014. Lacking both sanity and peace, I give you giant sunflowers. Wednesday, July 2, 2014. I lost 142 pounds. I lost my mind. I gained 25 pounds. I will never find in food what I seek. But I keep looking for it there. Over and over again. I’m not even sure what “it” is. Inner peace? Food is fuel. But it is so much more. It calms. It excites. It numbs. It kills. (So dramatic! After a year and a half of very regimented calorie counting, I started eating. AND EATING AND EATING AND EATING.
