Hear Ye, Prospective Commies. On Dec 1, 2009 in general. If you’re freaking out about which of your work to put in your portfolio, you can bring your portfolio to Creative Lunch (Riprocks, Friday @ noon) for a constructive peer review. Know this: our opinion is not a mirror of the Communication Design faculty’s opinion. Instead, we will give you feedback on what we think is working in your portfolio and what isn’t. ALSO: Congrats to those who passed the IPS (Illustrator Proficiency Skills) test!

VENT is essentially the student communication design club at the University of North Texas. However, an active member named Ben Barry, with the help of his friend Ryan Cole, stepped up and revived VENT. Under Barry, VENT’s mission was to focus on connecting students across all levels of the communication design program to establish a social network of designers. He accomplished this with the creation of a website with news, resources, and most importantly, a community message board ( the VENT Forum.

On May 9, 2011 in general. I took up the reigns after the previous leader graduated. Apparently VENT goes through a cycle of being active and then being inactive for a few months or years. Before I graduated last year, I made plans to leave VENT in careful hands. Unfortunately the plans fell through. Since then, there has been interest in taking over, but no one has bitten. So I’m addressing the entire Comm Design community at UNT:. Former VENT Leader IV. Let’s Be Friends.
