Remembering World War Two Airmen: December 2009

http://untoldvalor.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Remembering World War Two Airmen. Sunday, December 13, 2009. Old Negative Restored- 339th FG P-51 Marinell. The digitally restored negative. Click to SUPERSIZE. Great detail. I found an old negative inside a P-51 Mustang pilot's photo album. It had been tucked loosely inside the album and was in rough shape. No business in Idaho Falls has the capability to restore a negative, but fortunately, I have a friend who can digitally restore it. Watch Marinell's first flight since 1945 here. Order My Book Here.

Remembering World War Two Airmen. Tuesday, July 29, 2008. The Plane that Flew for 62 Days and the T-Bird that Saved the Day. When I was in the Las Vegas Airport, they had an old Cessna 172 hanging from the ceiling over the baggage claim area, so I had to check it out. Amazing. The Cessna, carrying two men, stayed in flight for an astounding 64 days, 22 hours, 19 minutes and five seconds. Air and Space Magazine. S Roger Mola wrote in an article in July 2006:. Photo By Bob Shane. The T-Bird helped refuel a...

http://untoldvalor.blogspot.com/2008/04/flight-clothing-for-high-altitudes.html

Remembering World War Two Airmen. Saturday, April 26, 2008. Flight Clothing for High Altitudes. A crew posing with full equipment in WWII. Note the parachute packs in foreground. Airmen flew in extreme weather conditions. At 20,000 feet, the air could be fifty below zero, and nearly devoid of life-giving oxygen. Both the B-17 and the B-24 were unheated and unpressurized. The photos below were taken at the 390th BG Museum at the Pima Air Museum in Tucson. April 26, 2008 at 9:23 PM. May 11, 2008 at 10:20 AM.
