Sewing. | irisandivy

Vision and growth. A blog about what inspires me. I studies fashion and textiles at Uni and love to sew. These days it is for pleasure rather than business. I made a decision to try and make my clothes rather than buy them, as much as it is for ethical reasons it is also because I love to pick my own fabrics. I get more joy searching for fabrics than I do for the finished piece. Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window). Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window). Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

When life gives you scraps make a quilt! | irisandivy

Vision and growth. A blog about what inspires me. When life gives you scraps make a quilt! Ok, so this is not entirely true, my scrap stash would have given me enough fabric for something the size of a pin cushion and I also had in my head a design that was yellow and grey. As my previous post. Mentions I have a bit of an obsession with those colours at the moment. I have never made a quilt before and after being inspired by some lovely designs on Pinterest. All fabrics are from the Folkloric range.

Cherry-tastic time of year. | irisandivy
https://irisandivy.wordpress.com/2015/07/24/cherry-tastic-time-of-year
Vision and growth. A blog about what inspires me. Cherry-tastic time of year. This year I spent spring admiring the abundance of blossom, every park I went to was full of them. For some reason I didn’t really make the connection that it would also lead to a glut of cherries. To help. I have to say it is much easier to do before with this nifty tool. I found a recipe online. Well I recently purchased a new kitchen weapon the Kmix Stand mixer. Anyway, back to the cherry jam glut. I decided to have my f...

Vision and growth. A blog about what inspires me. When I’m not doing my busy day job, I like to knit. In fact that may be an understatement… I love to knit! Where possible all items I knit with are either Britis h wool, or from British companies and 100% natural. I personally find nothing is better on a quintessentially British winter day than pulling on a snugly woollen hat. Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window). Vision and growth. A blog about what inspires me. Making a willow basket. Anyone who has read my blog before knows that I knit and sew, however with limited space and temporarily living in two places means it can be hard to start crafty projects. I also work with a computer system all week so I really miss venting my creative side. As a part of this I decided in 2014 to see what craft courses are out there that allow me to use my creative brain and hands. I found Jons bush craft. I have to say Jon. Fill ...

Vision and growth. A blog about what inspires me. Or should I say M-archer? Finally after months of procrastinating over plaid fabric and whether I was capable of making a shirt I decided to get a grip and get on with my Archer. Because I love a good plaid shirt and yet stuggle to ever see the perfect fit in the shops. I have been admiring other Archers in the blogosphere for sometime now and was hoping to join in the December archer appreciation month. I love it it’s a vest top in king cole galaxy.

Vision and growth. A blog about what inspires me. If someone said to me a few years ago I’d one day climb ice, or absail off a cliff face to climb back up I’d have thought them totally nuts. I started indoor climbing around 2010 and got bitten by the bug. Then I met happywanderer. Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window). Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window). Vision and growth. A blog about what inspires me. Posted in English Paper Piecing. Being hope and happiness while grey. The fabric is a lovely mustard double gauze from the Village haberdashery. The pattern was a simple one from Liesel and Co. As for quilt progress, I swapped one of the fabric choices which just wasn’t quite working for me, luck had it I found an alternative from Emma’s fabric studio. Was a brilliant reference tool and I also found a great app by Robert Kaufman app. Fill in your details ...
