Easter and the Age-Old System of Bribing People to Come to Church. I stumbled across this on Kotaku. And frankly, it really cracked me up. For those of you who are too lazy to watch the whole video, here's my synopsis:. Not everyone wants to go to church. Pastors want people to come to church. Praise God, Christ has risen indeed! The Holy Ch...

Gossland: a place which feels almost, but not quite, entirely unlike home. Thoughts on theology, books, life, the universe, and everything. Tuesday, April 26, 2011. The Holy Church of Self-Expression. A thought struck me today, which seemed like a decent topic to write about. I listened at work to this outstanding discussion. About modern praise music for the 2nd time, and was discussing some of the premises with my wife after dinner, when this topic came up. Trends toward a Theology of Glory. Isn't it l...

Voyage of the Purpose-Driven Treader. I remember first reading Voyage of the Dawn Treader. When I was about 6 years old. My parents had introduced me to the Chronicles of Narnia. As I grew older, I put these books aside for more mature fantasy, seeking solace in the likes of Tolkein and Lawhead, along with many, many. As well as the Jason Bourne.

Charismata and the Post-Revelatory World. As a result, I hope to put together a sort of "series" of articles which discuss this topic. It's less emotional than infant baptism or Communion (both of which I would also like to write about in the future), and has a lot of practical application for my life specifically. In any case, I will be re...

Gossland: a place which feels almost, but not quite, entirely unlike home. Thoughts on theology, books, life, the universe, and everything. Wednesday, July 11, 2012. Meredith Kline's, Kingdom Prologue. My pastor recently gave me a copy of a book by Meredith Kline, Kingdom Prologue. Those insights which further unify Scripture into a cohesive whole revolving around the work of the Triune God are really quite excellent. What an exciting redemptive history God has wrought! Gossland: a place which feels almost, but not quite, entirely unlike home. Thoughts on theology, books, life, the universe, and everything. Sunday, April 12, 2009. Happy Easter - Christ is risen indeed! What a wonderful time of the year for us, as Christians, to remember the glorious resurrection! We worship on Sundays because this was the day of Christ's resurrection from the dead, but it's also, in my mind, important to set time aside on the anniversary of our blessed hope. Alongside men in the church.

Gossland: a place which feels almost, but not quite, entirely unlike home. Thoughts on theology, books, life, the universe, and everything. Saturday, August 15, 2009. Two interesting points are being made, during a church service, sung by a congregation to God Who sits upon His throne. This said, there are two fundamental problems with these two songs, which can be traced (somewhat haphazardly, I'll admit) to a single issue. The nearsighted, and incomplete human experience we know as "love" finds its per...

Gossland: a place which feels almost, but not quite, entirely unlike home. Thoughts on theology, books, life, the universe, and everything. Monday, October 17, 2011. I was thinking about something yesterday, sent it to my sister, and thought it might make a good blog post. It's probably going to be long, but that's because I'm pompous, long-winded, and extremely tiresome. Without using a bunch of big words/concepts, which I really tend to do, here's the problem: God deserves two things:. We're sinners in...
