Upper Teesdale Churches Together. St James the Less. The church serves the people of Mickleton, Kelton, Lunedale and Holwick. Laithkirk Parish Church DL12. Laithkirk was formerly a Tithe Barn for Lord Fitzhugh, where the people of Mickleton had to pay their tithes, crossing the River Lune by a ford before there was a bridge, following a winding track uphill behind the former Vicarage to the Tithe Barn. The barn was given and converted to a church in 1577 and became a Parish Church in 1844. 0.

Upper Teesdale Churches Together. St James the Less. St James the Less Forest with Frith DL12 0HA. The parish covers several thousand acres of upland farmland and fell. It divides into three areas, Ettersgill, Forest and Harwood, with the population being around 150. The parish is owned by Raby Estate (Lord Barnard), who is a supportive patron of the parish church. Upper Teesdale Churches Together. St James the Less. St Mary’s Middleton-in-Teesdale DL12 0RL. There was a church on the site of St Mary the Virgin, Middleton-in-Teesdale in 1170 and it was part of the possessions of the Monastery of St. Mary in York. The 13th century church was demolished in 1876 after which the current one was built. The current church consists of a nave with north and south aisles, a chancel with organ chamber and a vestry.
