Founded in 1960, it has been the mission of Chado Urasenke Tankokai Chicago Association to deepen the study and knowledge of Chanoyu, (commonly known as the Japanese Tea Ceremony) in Chicago, Illinois. The association hosts public tea events and member group study to incorporate Chanoyu into everyday life. The organization also serves as the connection between its members and the Urasenke headquarters in Kyoto, Japan. It as its mission to spread that peacefulness throughout the Chicago area.
