Today I finished canning the tomatoes I bought from the Farmer's Market. $20 for a whole box of tomatoes. I made 19 pints of canned tomatoes that we will be able to eat when summer and tomato season have long gone. I also made sundried tomatoes that I keep in the freezer for putting on pizza and salad. If you have never made your own pasta, don't fear: it is super easy and its so delicious you will never go back. This pasta rolls our wonderfully and is delicious! 1 c semolina flour. 1/2 t dried oregano. 1/2 t coursely ground black pepper. 1/4 c plain non-fat yogurt. 1 T lemon juice. I have a hand crank pasta maker. 1-15 T. lemon juice.

As part of the 11th hour fiscal cliff deal, lawmakers managed to extend the Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief Act. The extension means that homeowners will continue to be excused from paying taxes on forgiven mortgage debt through 2013. The original law, established in 2007 to help stabilize the housing market, was set to expire on December 31, 2012.
